THX 1138,
In my humble role as Best Version advisor I suggest you take a visit to http://www.hmv.co.jp
Do an advanced search using DTS. Note that this is an expensive disc. It will cost you the best part of £45 to get hold of...
It's worth it though
But forget the £50, if you're ever in near Milton Keynes you can buy me a beer.

ARMAGEDDON IMPORT £27.99 www.movietyme.com
no more info about it on the site, you'll probably have to email them unless you've tried.
You could also email amazon.co.jp
i doubt you'll be able to understand their website.
Also try emailing cdjapan.co.jp
i'm surprised HMV dont do imports or offer to mediate btween different counries in which they have stroes, I'm sure a lot of people would like to make use of this
after all, they do it for cd's.

I live in Tokyo, so can help you out if any of the other options (HMV/MovieTyme/etc.) don't work out (and no, I'm not gonna be cruel enough to take you up on the 50 reward either). I'm just heading off to Akihabara now so I'll check out the price of the DVD and let you know how much it is.
Cheers, Errol

The Armageddon DTS DVD selling price is 6800 yen. I'm fairly sure that doesn't include consumption tax (a 5% tax which is charged on literally everything you can buy in Japan) so it's really 7140 yen. That's about 41.66 pounds, according to yahoo.
It doesn't seem particularly common. I only found one shop stocking the DTS version in Akihabara (which contains a fair number of DVD shops), and none of the second hand shops I was in had a copy. Japanese DVDs actually have the price printed on the inlay cover so different shops will all sell the DVD for the same price unless it's second hand.

Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions, especially Errol over there in Japan. My frantic search has now come to an end at last and i will be placing my order with Movietyme. They are in the process of setting up a new supplier for Japanese titles and will have the disc for £27.99.
So thanks again for the help and this thread can now be closed moderator.

as a matter of interest, was the disc flagged as anything other than an import disc. Thats the one i saw and if it is the Jap dts version, itsnot very well advertised, which would be strange.

It was infact the import disc.I e-mailed movietyme and they replied that it was the DTS version.I agree that it certainly should be flagged as such and should be in their DTS section.I wonder if Craig from movietyme could comment, and, maybe see if all DTS imports could be in the DTS section, as i'm sure they would be of interest to people like myself.

Ahem, hate to blow my wn trumpet but it was I that put Craig onto this disc, along with Cliffhanger DTS, Hard Rain DTS, Cutthroat Island DTS, and Lake Placid DTS.
They are very difficult to get hold of and frankly I'm surprised they are doing it at that price.
Regards Neil.

Jenz, any idea what other import titles are available in DTS? I could be interested in Lake Placid, any idea of quality?
Cheers.

Tee, basically the ones I'm aware of are:
Hard Rain DTS and Anamorphic, Cutthroat Island DTS, Cliffhanger DTS, Lake Placid DTS and Anamorphic and extras, Sixth Sense DTS, Scream 3 DTS.
and of course the excellent Scream Uncut Disc.
Regards Neil.

Neil, I tried searching for any of the DTS titles on the Japanese HMV site but had no luck - I can't understand the site for one thing and for another it came up with none of them?
Are there any sites where you can view these titles and do Movietyme sell all of them?
Thanks again.

I bought all mine direct. You'll need to ask Movietyme as they were looking into stocking them. Don't know for sure.
To see them you need to do an advanced search.
Try this link: http://www.hmv.co.jp/search/title.as...mat=3&advsea=1
