Thought I would throw this into this thread as it appears to have some relationship by the looks of the storyline...

Deadpool (2014)

Quote:
The movie's script is still in development but will be based around the character of Wade Wilson, a mercenary with terminal cancer who undergoes military experiments in an attempt to replicate Wolverine's mutant healing factor. This results are mixed as Wilson's ability to regenerate wounds is greatly increased (mimicking the abilities of Wolverine) but his mind is fundamentally fractured, leading to his multiple personalities and ability to break the fourth wall of narrative within storytelling. Similarly his skin is ridden with blisters and sores as a bi-product of his massively accelerated healing factor. He eventually leaves the Weapon X program and becomes a mercenary for hire, earning himself the pseudonym; "The Merc with a Mouth".

In the Pre-Production stages. Directed by Tim Miller, Rob Liefeld (Writing creator), Rhett Reese (screenplay) and Starring Ryan Reynolds who appears to be preferring roles in Super Hero Films these days!

i mentioned Tim Miller in the Deadpool thread, agree Ryan seems to be liking his comic characters, he's also doing R.I.P.D. based on a comic along side Jeff Bridges.

Wolverine to film this October...

With James Mangold set to direct. According to reports Hugh Jackman speaking with Toronto radio station CHFI, stated that filming will commence this October, with a 2012 release likely.

It’s still unknown whether the plan remains to shoot on location in Japan, where Christopher McQuarrie’s script takes place. When Jackman gave an update in March, he said it was still too early to tell regarding the Japan situation.

Hugh Jackman confirms villain for Wolverine 2 - it's the Spoiler

Silver Samurai

Silver Samurai Image link

Keniuchio Harada is the mutant son of the former Japanese crimelord Shingen Harada. As a youth, Harada mastered the attendant disciplines of the medieval samurai and sought employment as a warrior for hire. He first worked for the criminal Mandrill and clashed with the blind hero Daredevil. Harada then served the Viper, an agent of the terrorist organization Hydra, as her bodyguard. In that capacity, Harada battled opponents such as the costumed crimefighter Spider-Man, the martial arts master Shang-Chi, and the team of mutant trainee heroes the New Mutants.

Following his father’s death, Harada sought the leadership of Shingen’s Clan Yashida from his half-sister Mariko Yashida, but was opposed by the ronin Yukio and Mariko’s lover, the mutant adventurer Wolverine. Later, Harada worked with Wolverine to free American private investigator Jessica Drew from the influence of Black Blade of Muramasa, a sword mystically imbued with its creator’s madness.

Any news on Liev Schreiber reprising his role of sabretooth as he was by far the best thing about the first film. Reports seem varied on the internet as to his involvement. If he is returning I will probably see this in the cinema but if not this will probably be a dvd rental for me.

This version is reportedly a standalone version without connections to the other films, thats what Aronofsky was planning, not sure with the new director/script. We already know who Wolverine will be going up against.

Who actually enjoyed the first one? I did but I get the impression I am in a very small minority but if there is a sequel coming, perhaps I am not after all! I do wish it ties up properly with the X-Men:FC film though but the ending of Wolverine mucks that continuity up big time. I wonder when they say this follow up will stand on its own means they are ignoring the first one and thus try to maintain a continuity with the X-Men films (including FC)?

I hired it because I didn't expect to like it but I did enjoy it so I bought it when the price came. I was bored second time round.

I did watch it a second time too, and you're right, its fun first time but I admit it doesnt quite have a high repeat viewing factor.

i quite liked Wolverine - some of the mutants were a bit lame and it could have been a lot better but it was entertaining

Wolverine is a great character so would be good if they get this right

Would prefer a proper X Men 4 directed by Singer though...
