The Equalizer - Edward Woodward has passed away

I was a avid viewer off The Equalizer tv series. Seen him in a few films too. He seemed like a good bloke.

RIP Mr Woodward.

As pointed out in the past by a mod/others, this is a discussion thread, which is not allowed in the 'last curtain call of the late' section, which is a permanent and separate record, that you have just updated.

Very sad.

I know Callan, The Equalizer and The Wicker Man will get plenty of mentions, but I remember him most fondly for his portrayal of Lt. Harry 'Breaker' Morant.

Almost mentioned that in my addition to the Gregs other thread which I thought I add as I though he deserved more than a link.
I enjoyed that film more than The Wicker Man and would recommend any one that’s not seen it search it out.

Re: The Equalizer - Edward Woodward has passed away

Very sad news
Love Wicker Man and have very fond memories of staying at my aunties over weekends as a wee boy and watching "the equalizer" before bed.
He also ruled in the fantastic BBC drama "Common as Muck"

Re: The Equalizer - Edward Woodward has passed away

Breaker Morant, The Wicker Man, Callan, The Equalizer, Common As Muck...all standout roles for a man who had a great talent and who always came across as such a decent, well-grounded bloke.

Olivier nicknamed him "fart in the bath" because that's how his name sounded - an irreverent fact, there.

RIP Edward Woodward.

Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright wrote a great tribute on his blog to actor Edward Woodward.

> Edward Woodward tribute

The Times - apparently reprinted the essay in edited form without asking Wright's permission.

Quote:
Is it appropriate for a national newspaper to reprint my personal tribute to Edward Woodward as if it were an article written for them?" Wright tweeted today. "They just lifted it from my blog without asking. And cut off the entire end section about my last meeting with him ... I'm not talking about quotes. Am talking about the entire article. But with edits they made that make me look ill informed and unfeeling ... Perhaps they would like to send the fee they would pay the commissioned writer of such an article to Edward's memorial... ."
