Unhappy LoveFilm titles unavailable?

Has anyone had problems with some films suddenly becoming unavailable at Lovefilm? They are major titles, and the explaination so far has been there is an issue with a Supplier...

Anyone else know what is going on?!

Re: LoveFilm titles unavailable?

See the Lovefilm getting worse by the day thread in the suppliers & technology fourm.

They have always had issues getting EIV Blu Ray titles, as EIV don't officially do Blu Ray rentals. Lately though, they seem to be having trouble getting hold of Universal discs, both Blu Ray and DVD.

I have emailed them and they can give no information as to why this should be, but have promised to inform me should the situation change.

Doesn't sound too good to me though, let's hope it's not an indication of things to come and other studios titles follow the Universal trend.

Entertainment In Video, they release stuff like Underworld, also know for producing less than brilliant Blu Ray releases

And some good ones too. They don't deserve the hatred some people have. Having watched some of their 1080i (converted to 1080p) BD's they look no different than BD's already 1080p.

Does anyone have any news as to when/if Lovefilm will sort this issue out? I want to watch Inglorious Basterds.

I believe that lovefilm at the moment are having issues with Universal Pictures thus their new titles are not avalible to rent from Lovefilm.

Not Good

Lovefilm need to sort this situation out very soon! I have tried to get 4 or 5 new films and all are unavailable to rent. As someone who rents new releases and is not interested in renting old films I’m thinking of leaving Lovefilm. My rental list is now declining every week!

To be honest, in my experience, if you're just after new releases you'd be better off ditching Lovefilm and trying someone else.

I find LF great, but I don't mind waiting for the new stuff.

The problem is not waiting for New Releases but not been able to rent them at all! I’ve always found lovefilm ok for new releases. But not been able to get them is different! Just tried to rent Zombieland, Public Enemies, and a few others. You can rent them in other places so I’m not sure why Lovefilm have a problem? I’m not interested in older films because many you can buy for little more than renting.

Zombieland is available for rental.

I don't mind waiting for new releases either (as Gooner said) but to be fair I've got them fairly quick in most cases. You're better off with your local if you want new releases within a week or two.

Indeed, I got Zombieland myself this week from them. I still downgraded my account though. Between delaying my "unlimited" rentals for days and not having a lot of movies (of all ages) available, it's more and more a frustrating experience.

I don't know of any real alternatives in the UK, though.

Got Zombieland from LF myself this week too.

As for alternatives, I think there's only really Blockbuster, LF seems to have bought out all the other competition.

Can't decide whether they've got too big and can't handle it, or bought the competion so no longer care about customer service

Blockbuster are probably not going to be around much longer, if the news is to be believed...

Even less competition from LF then, which can't be a good thing.

Might give Universal pause for thought though, if they have no major rental outlet for their movies.

Maybe, but I'm withering in my ability to wait on the chance of renting IB, so I may end up buying it!

Well, at least BB won't have exclusivity on titles, so may come to LF sooner...

Lovefilm and Uiversal are having a spat so anything from them is unvailable since Sept 09.
Invention of Lying, Inglorious Basterds, Public Enemies... etc

Doesnt look like they are going to resolve it soon either given its been six months.

i mailed them saying I would quit soon, my rental list is empty.. nothing left to choose, so i downgraded to the lowest rung of contract but the next movie in my list is released on the 29 march.. which is a while and there are quite a few universal titles I would watch, couples retreat is another thats not available (I rented that though and it was sooo bad)...

A Serious Man by the Coen Brothers... unavailable for rental.

Every other film that I want to watch... unavailable for rental.

What a joke.

I contacted Lovefilm about the unavailable titles and was told that they are trying to get the rights to rent Universal titles back but they couldnt give a date as to when it will be but they did say the website would be updated as soon as they do, so i guess you can only wait for the time being and hope it is sooner rather than later!

I can't see them resolving it any time soon, it's been going on for a very long time.

I incidentally rented Inglorious Basterds on the PS3 store. What a mistake. Just under 24 hours to download!! and the audio is 2.1. That is surely not a proper HD title then is it?

I've ran out of things to watch, my Lovefilm list is full of stuff that I dont care whether I watch or not lol

I'm not sure how it is with Microsoft, but Sony have provided crappy servers for their movie service-- the speed is atrocious. In comparison, games from the PSN store download much quicker (but still could be faster) so they are limiting it on purpose. I'm sure with good servers coupled with better broadband services, downloading movies will take off.
