Newbury Vue Cinema

Just been to a preview night at the new Newbury Cinema thanks to the company I work for

It was fantastic to see a new cinema on launch and at it's best when all the equipment is new and recently calibrated. The sound was fantastic and the picture was pretty good. Although to be honest the picture from the JVC HD990 seen recently at the JVC AVF event was far, far better with regards to contrast, and sharpness. But then the screen was probably 15-20 times bigger in the cinema so it's unfair to compare.

For anybody in the West Berkshire area reading this; I would seriously recommend catching a film there. It's way better than the Vue or Odeon in Basingstoke for comfort, picture and audio quality.

I am not sure yet how many (if not all) are digital screens. They have a dedicated 3D screen, so worth checking that out! I will report on UP 3D tomorrow, as a colleague of mine went to see that tonight.

I saw Cirque de Freak, not a bad movie, but we didn't get allot of choice as it was a courtesy event prior to the opening on Friday 13th.

Re: Newbury Vue Cinema

Just spoken to my friend re. the 3D version of UP, and he was blown away. He also mentioned the Avatar trailer, apparently it's a must!

Re: Newbury Vue Cinema

It was the same in Hull when they opened a Vue there...blew the other 3 cinemas out of the water!
