During his Jonathan Ross interview, Ian McKellan also mentioned that the extended cut of ROTK should be "about 5 hours long"... Makes sense as Peter Jackson's first cut of the film was apparently 6 hours.

Theatrical version DVD expected May 24, comes from more than one source one of them a franchisee for games and toys and another who works in DVD production .. theory is to release before Potter III comes out in June. No rumours as to the EE version beyond the official statement early this year of November again, though that also was still saying August for the first version.
Also strong rumour of a trilogy DVD re-packaging, prime source being a graphics designer who has been approached to do design work for it .. note this is less certain that the May release date, as I read TORn anyway.

I think they will release the EE of ROTK about 4 - 4 1/4 hours and then in 2005 we will get the special trilogy release with a 'bit more' footage in each film to make us all rush out and buy it agian :=)

Or as Peter Jackson said they could make another movie just "fattening" up the other three movies and tie them all together
He was joking of course.

Dvdboxoffice has ROTK listed as being released
on March 29th. I would imagine that the release
date is for the theatrical version and that it will
be the same for R2.
Here's a link.... http://www.dvdboxoffice.com/descript...+&pid=90050715
