Transforming spaceships urgh! Romantic subplot urgh! I could go on....I don't know why there are so many alien invasion movies at the moment (Battle LA, Cowboys and Aliens, Skyline, Falling Skies-tv show. I could go on.)

The main thing is I don't remember Battleships, the game, having any aliens at all.

Please go on. If you're going to damn it for having a romantic sub-plot then what about Raiders of the Lost Ark, Bladerunner, Star Wars, The Matrix...I could go on.

That's artistic licence, who would you suggest go up against the most powerful navy on the planet?

It's not really the Romantic thing I'm bothered by, more the execution. Raiders for example, its there, but not to just get a teen female audience in (which this trailer is clearly trying to do...) I'm sure in Raiders the romantic subplot got virtually zero people to go and watch it.

The special effects were outstanding, I may have been harsh before judging the film based on the first trailer but this has intrigued me.

never judge anything till you see the finished article, then rip it apart

This may stomp all over the latter Transformers films. Hopefully Peter Berg delivers more than just eye candy.

Wow it does look awesome. Will deffo go and see this at the cinema, But probably in 2D. Too much action for 3D. My eyeballs will explode.

Must admit to not being keen on this from the initial shots but i'm actually getting quite excited now, it may have a stupid, silly plot and not very good acting and a whole host of other stuff that folks will pick at, but its got lots of stuff blowing up and looks superb, sounds like a great way to spend 2 hours!

Is this also in 3D? cant see any mention of it.

Cool

I sort of fancied it till I switched the TV on and Rihannon was being interviewed by Johnathan Ross and came across as a bit on the inarticulate side and the clip they showed of her I could not understand a word she said it was a bit like Rocky on a realy bad day.

SFX are advancing at an alarming rate, destruction sequences are looking more and more believable. Seems like another no brainer film but could turn out decent, I have a feeling 2012 will generally be a good year for film-making.

Who cares if Rihanna is in it? Even if she can't act, she can't possibly be as toe-curlingly awful as any of the human characters in Transformers- and she's eye candy to boot.

Plus of course, Michael Bay isn't directing this

+1 to this!

From the recent Empire preview, it looks like Rihanna will be channelling Vasquez from Aliens.

Went to see this today cinema was half full and this was the 11am showing (i know its also the holidays). I enjoyed everything about this film, i could easily watch it again right now. Its got elements of alot of previous alien films ever made, District 9 comes to mind most combined with a Transorfmers aspect. Awesome IMHO Recommended 10/10
