HD DVDs in New York

My sister is off to New York today. Any top deals on HD DVDs or region free Blu-rays about over there?

I had hoped to get the Star Trek new set but that isn't out for 2 weeks.

Anyone been to New York know what the prices are like? I imagine Heroes on HD DVD would be a good one to get.

Re: HD DVDs in New York

prices will be great when you consider the strength of the £ against the $ at the moment, remember though most New York stores will add tax to the advertised price!

places like Wallmart and Best Buy will be the cheapest I would think

Re: HD DVDs in New York

i was in virgin new york and they had a decent selection for averaging about $20. they had about double the amount of blu-rays than hd's though.

gamespot also have some hddvd's, some are second hand and therefore cheaper again. tax is only about 7%

Thanks for the replies.

Not as cheap as I thought then. Looked on Walmart and Bestbuys website to see Heroes at $73 - $80. Thats still about £35/£40 plus their tax, which is not really much cheaper than I can buy from the classifieds here or US sites such as movietyme.
