PlayUSA.com & HDDVD's
Right. I've only recently discovered playusa.com (I know, where have I been, right?) and since the HDDVD's there are much cheaper than play.com I'm thinking of placing an order.
Plus you get the benefit of free delivery (something lacking from most other import sites) and the fact that they're based in the UK. Delivery should be pretty speedy?
The only thing is, on the site they have the disclaimer in red writing that states THIS HDDVD WILL ONLY WORK IN A R1 PLAYER!!!!
Since all HDDVD's are region free (for now) is this just playusa.com trying to discourage us from purchasing at a cheaper price? Basically, are they liars?
Sub question: Anyone in the UK used them for HDDVD's and whats the service like?
I'm sure I'm being really stupid here and someone will clear all this up for me. Thanks in advance.
Skint.

Re: PlayUSA.com & HDDVD's
They are part of Play but they actually ship from the US most of the time. When I have ordered they have taken a good 1-2weeks to arrive....and I got charged customs - so beware. This is only my experience though. Also, there are a few other UK based sites which are just as competetive as play (a lot of the time, cheaper).
As far as region 1 gubbins.... They are wrong, HD DVD is region free. The only issue you may have i on a combo where the SD DVD side will not play if you have a region 2 HD DVD player.

Re: PlayUSA.com & HDDVD's
Cheers mate, I expected it was gubbins!
How does the customs charge work? Do play add that one or do you get taxed somehow within the uk?
I got a couple of HDDVD's last week from DVDWORLDUSA and wasn't charged customs..
Cheers

Re: PlayUSA.com & HDDVD's
I've been using AXELMUSIC mainly. They seem to be the best! Cheapest, fast delivery etc..
Now, I've just found out about the amazon.com 'Buy 2 get 1 free' HD-DVD offer. This is great. Three HD-DVD's for £20. I want to place an order but again I'm concerned about the import tax.
Does anybody know if I'll be taxed or anything on an order of £20 ($40)? Do you escape the tax if you use amazon.com?
Thanks in advance guys...

As already stated above, any goods over £18 can be charged import tax and post office handling fees. Amazon's big boxes seem to attract the attention of customs officers.

Re: PlayUSA.com & HDDVD's
I bought Transformers from Playusa for £17.99 and had no problems with delivery or extra customs charges. Delivery was in 5 days.

Re: PlayUSA.com & HDDVD's
playusa are really good, 3-5 days normally just like play.com, it does also warn you about customs charges and asks if you still agree to purchase for items over £18 as well, so anyone who complains, you were advised before you bought.
My advice is, for under £18 then playusa is great, anything over then dvdworldusa are great (they pay customs but it can delay titles)
