Sainsburys Goes Blu-Ray!

Well sort of. I was in the Savacentre store in Oldbury at dinnertime. Savacentre is a Sainsburys Hypermarket. Next to the PS3 games were two, count them two, blu-ray films. ‘300’ and ‘Fantastic Four 2’. Price was £19.97. Alongside was some leaflets explaining you needed a HD telly, HDMI cable and a PS3 to play them. Well duh. Okay not a big deal. Leaflets also say ‘only available at certain stores’.

So news is really: some large Sainsburys stores now stock some blu-ray films alongside the PS3 games.

ASDA up the road will probably sell them to you for slightly less and two action films isn’t a major thing but it does seem to be the first time I’ve seen them sell a HD film at all. There was no HD DVD films there but then Savacentre stock the 360 but not the add-on either.

Don't forget your Nectar card!

Good price for the U.K. - they're £24 each at Amazon.

Re: Sainsburys Goes Blu-Ray!

Sainsbury's Hull also has '300' and 'Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer' on Blu-ray located next to their respective DVD versions for £19.97 each. Hopefully, they'll start stocking more of them as I currently work there and get a 10% discount.

Re: Sainsburys Goes Blu-Ray!

It only seems to leave WH Smith as the main holdout for HD/BD in UK retail outlets.

Re: Sainsburys Goes Blu-Ray!

That's it. I'm moving to Tescos

In all seriousness though. It doesn't matter at the moment due to the Sky high Prices of HD material.

Not to mention the oversized cases

I am actualy moving house though soon so Tesco's will be my local from now on

Re: Sainsburys Goes Blu-Ray!

Asda in Wolverhampton have a small selection of HD DVD and Blu ray discs probably around 10 titles of each.Prices are around £17.90 each so not as good as online but better than now't.
