Yup, that's a fantastic article, and a great site. I wish video transfer technicians would stop messing around little 'tweaks' like this.

I agree I have the REGION 1 edition of ZHOU YU'S TRAIN a beautiful movie and a gorgeous master. But they added edge enhancement without any need whatsoever. The master is superb it doesn't need messing with. This edge thing is like aphex on vocals on music albums that makes the singer sound all breathy like they are giving mouth to mouth to a drowning victim. Audio engineers in the music biz can't keep their hands off the tech. Same with video edge enhancement, the company has bought a block box so they have to use it!
