Speaking personally, I would love to hear an answer to the original question without having to go to some seedy adult forum. If anybody can answer I would be interested to know.

The dvds that cdwow are selling seem to be USA releases (region 0 as all porn is) so will be fully uncut. Was going to order a couple but cant make my mind up on which 2

I wouldn't say that www.AdultDVDForums.com was "seedy". It is just a forum for horror film enthusiasts, and for answering these kinds of questions so that we do not have to discuss them in front of the kids...

Hi,

Just a warning: the BBFC are currently in a dispute with the regards to the sale of ANY BBFC-certificated R18 adult title, that is not sold in a sex-shop.

The basic jist, is that the BBFC state that they will only certificate pornographic material with an R18 certificate, if it is restricted to sex-shops only, within the UK.

At this time, anyone caught purchasing or selling ANY R18 certificate title, via mail-order, or any other kind of shop, is potentially opening themselves up to a hundred-and-one legal problems, not excluding:

- the sending/receipt of obscene material via the postal service
- the sale/receipt of obscene material from an unlicensed vendor
- the importation and receipt of obscene material

Basically, anything that has an R18 certificate, is legal, but must ONLY be sold from a Uk-registered and approved adult sex shop. Any other environment, especially via mail-order, the internet or other shop/store, is illegal.

If you choose to import BBFC-uncertificated adult films, then again, you're opening yourself up to a whole can of legal problems.

Don't forget: it is still LEGAL for any police force to obtain an order, to enter and confiscate ANY and ALL material, that it feels may have been received or sent by you, through the post, which may be either BBFC-uncertificated or BBFC-approved, but not purchased from an approved adult-store!

See the current issue of "DVD World" magazine, for an article on the whole issue!

I would personally NOT risk importing porn of any kind, until the law and BBFC decide what can and cannot be imported. As things stand, the only person who is likely to be in trouble, is the consumer!

over with. Just do it!

But that only applys to 18R rated titles - Its still legal to import american porn dvds for personal use just like its legal to import R1 movie dvds even though they have no BBFC cert. Just dont import anything that can be considered obscene.
Thats what i always thought?? - of course the Law defining Obscene is so screwed up that they could argue that something like Carebears the movie is Obscene

Lex would be great to discuss this on the Adultdvdforums BUT no one ever visits it - apart from the trading section.

Indeed, but they (and HM Customs and the Home Office) have no problem with personal importation as long as the stuff can't be considered as 'obscene' ie it would be passed by the Nazi-styled BBFC.

Incidentally, the law concerning HM Customs getting entry (and making an arrest ie it's an "arrestable offence") for non-BBFC material does not apply in Scotland. In England they can chap your door for any reason they like (ie they think you might be up to something). In Scotland they need a shed-load of evidence and the backing of the courts.

There has been several cases lately in court where shops have been fined for selling over the counter porn (or online -illegal no matter what) whilst not having a sex shop licence. One of these cases is being appealed.

Hopefully one day we will be treated like adults.

As for HM Customs/Home Office/BBFC they're a bunch of
