Adam Sandler’s latest ‘comedy’ arrives on high-def disc
Whilst Adam Sandler has made some good movies with talented directors like Paul Thomas Anderson, James Brooks and Judd Apatow -
Punch Drunk Love,
Spanglish and
Funny People are all worth a look - he has also made some absolute stinkers. We’ll admit to having a soft spot for
The Wedding Singer and
50 First Dates but rubbish like
Jack and Jill just makes use want to stick knitting needles through our own eyes. Sandler’s latest -
That’s My Boy - has had some pretty shocking reviews but since our own Cas Harlow has manfully volunteered to review the new disc, we’ll wait for his verdict.
Adam Sandler joins Andy Samberg (TV’s “Saturday Night Live” and "Cuckoo") and Leighton Meester (TV’s “Gossip Girl”,
Country Strong) in the outrageous comedy
That's My Boy, coming to Blu-ray and DVD with UltraViolet on January 28, 2013, courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
After years of estrangement, an immature and single parent, Donny (Sandler), reunites with his son, Todd (Samberg), just weeks before his wedding to Jamie (Meester). Now, Donny must strive to re-establish himself in Todd’s life as a positive parental figure. The film also stars Academy Award-nominee James Caan (Best Supporting Actor,
The Godfather, 1972), Academy Award-winner Susan Sarandon (Best Actress,
Dead Man Walking, 1996), Milo Ventimiglia (TV’s “Heroes”), and Rob Vanwinkle a.k.a. “Vanilla Ice.”
Bonus features include five deleted scenes, a gag reel and exclusive to the Blu-ray three behind-the-scenes featurettess. The “Who Are All these People?” feature highlights the cast and cameo appearances in the film. “Greetings From Cape Cod” discusses the beach house location and the bad weather. “Classy Rick’s Bacon and Leggs” focuses on scenes from the film that took place in Classy Rick’s strip club.
