According to a report in Variety, Warner Brothers are planning only a limited release for the 48 frames per second version of The Hobbit.

According to Variety's source,the HFR (high frame rate) version will go out to only select locations, perhaps not even into all major cities in the USA. There's no word on what they'll do for the rest of the world, however, but we'd expect a similar treatment.

The source went on to say that Warner are still keen on the HFR format and will push it more with the 2nd and 3rd instalments of Peter Jackson's new franchise.
