that is a bargain.

BTW quite a few of these DW offers are at the hut so if you are ordering a bundle you get £3 of orders of £35 with code HWalk, same deal at zavvi but code is ZWalk.

Sadly my Deadly Assassin arrived from Play loose in the box - all rattling and scratched so straight back its gone for replacement. Fendahl arrived intact though and have already watched the doco which was quite interesting despite no Tom Baker involvement. I must now be watching about 4 different Doctor Who stories concurrently !

Assassin and fendahl both arrived ok, just watched first episode of Assassin over lunch, great. Last story I watched was hand of fear which chonologically is the previous story so been looking forward to this one.

As this thread seems to include many fans of the 70 / 80's stories can anyone help. I'm trying to remeber which story this is. Pretty sure its Tom Baker and was set on a planet with a lot of sand, I remember a circle of mirrors, a human traitor, some monster posing as a human (possible a plant), ring an bells?

Definitely sand, not empty whiteness of "Warriors' Gate" is it? That's got mirrors but doesn't fit all your clues.

Couldn't give a definite answer but...
Destiny of The Daleks is set mostly in sand (on Skaro).
City Of Death features the bad guy who's really a monster (face like a plant I'spose).
Could you be thinking of one of these?

EDIT:
I was intrigued so did a little googling....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinda_(Doctor_Who)
Is it Kinda?

Ok just got my TV companion out (all the classic years) and flicked thourgh 3rd and 4th doctors and can't find it on any of them! Its definitely not newer and I'm sure i saw it in colour.

Just checked 2nd doctor and it might be space pirates, doesn't ring all the bells but some of it sounds familair, which means I might never have seen and only read the story. I was story before war games.

I would say thats Meglos fairly definitely - there's sand, a circle of reflectors (I think) and a cactus posing as a human...well roughly anyway

You are right its even got romana in it and I was sure I remebered her. I must have missed that one when I was skipping through the book. Now to see if its on DVD ...

[edit] no dvd yet but found the book I must have read and the picture is defintely it:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-Who-M...4414424&sr=8-2

I would have seen some of this on TV but this was certainly when those b@#####s at ITV put buck rogers on at the same time and some weeks I confess I didn't switch BR over halfway through to catch DW, and of course we had no video in those days.

Yes I remember the Buck Rogers temptation - it all seemed very enticing back then - and Wilma Deering was very attractive. From memory wasn't the awful Metal Mickey on before Buck Rogers? I seem to remember sitting through time and time again. I'd quite like to see Meglos again - one of the better latter Tom Bakers. Clearly not up there with the Hinchcliff era - but still watchable.

Meglos was on one of the sky channels last year, not bad but some of it was a bit dull. The E Space offer is very good, all 3 stories are good and very different.

you cant complain at 6 quid for the likes of Fendahl and Assassin, absolute bargains

Roll on Seeds of Doom on DVD

Just finsihed assassin and the matrix documentary after it. They even had the guy who was president of the who fan club at the time still complaining that they weren't like the time lords of the troughton era, why didn't the dead ones regnerate? Good piint, I still enjoyed it though.

re: Classic Dr Who bargains

I reckon they're saving Terror of the Zygons and The Daemons - surely amongst the most wanted - till near the end of the DVD release schedule. I did see what seemed to be a factual list of 2010 releases on Digital Spy and from memory neither were there. I think both Peladons may have been there which I would like. I think Revenge of the Cybermen was there too.

Doctor Who - Attack Of The Cybermen £5.93 at The Hut with voucher code SUPERDVD!

Cheap enough? I'm still not sure... seen this story recently, it's pretty poor!

Just got my boxset of The Rescue/The Romans from Zavvi and its clearly second-hand...

Its not sealed...the outer sleeve is torn and there is scratches and finger marks all over the 2 discs..disgusting...

I have emailed the Zavvi's service department for details of how to return it.

Whats the chances of getting a new replacement...?

Thanks,

The Doctor

Pretty good, I'd say. Having ordered a spare set () mine arrived today too and is sealed as well as looking brand new. Perhaps something happened to yours in the post?

Zavvi returns are easy but not quick and I'd recommend to always always always ensure that you take the opportunity to get a certificate of posting from a Post Office. I can't believe how many returns have apparently failed to reach them lately but so long as you have proof of posting they seem to deal with the situation honourably.

Sent the boxset back today to them...and requested a new and sealed one.

Finished Time Warrior at last. Excellent. Never seen it before and thoroughly enjoyed it. The actor playing Irongron was superb in the part - only ever seen him before in Boon as a much older man - and Boon was just so awful in every aspect. In fact the Irongron actor had a far bigger role in this than Jon Pertwee. Best Sontaran story bar Sontaran Experiment.
