Ive said all this several times before but here we go again!

First off, be aware that there is a new gift set and digibook coming out near the end of the year (US) which will be region-free.

Briefcase is exactly the same as the USA one - unicorn, spinner, large art cards, letter from Ridley (in Spanish), hologram thing, and a 5-disc large amaray set. Small booklet in amaray set is in Spanish (but its small and youre not missing much - I had this with my DVD tin set ages ago so it didnt bother me). Discs are exactly the same as the USA ones so no English problems etc. In fact its slightly better as the Final Cut defaults to 5.1 TrueHD - with the USA one you had to select this manually.

So unlike the French Inception case this one is definitely a keeper for me. I might go for the USA gift set later in the year but thats just because Im a Blade Runner freak!

It was packaged very well and arrived immaculate. Id say if you are a Blade Runner fan buy it. If youre not a fan maybe hold off.

Thanks for all that Jim. Digibooks just aren't worth it to me though so it'd be this or nothing, really. Thanks though!

The briefcase or the gift set you mean - neither are digibooks.

I like digibooks myself but for some reason I dont like the upcoming 3 disc digibook...that unicorn in the rain thing looks nice but just doesnt seem right to me.

It's OOP and has been for years! If you don't have the briefcase this is the cheapest option you will get with the 5disc set!

Last time I looked there was a countdown, 6 or 7 left? Dont know if thats true but if u want this briefcase under £100 new then this is the only way to go. The spanish on a couple of things as I said above is not intrusive at all unlike say the french on the inception set

I had the HD DVD version of this and sold it off, and I bought the UK tin cheaply to tide me over. I've been looking to pick it up again on Blu seeing how the Anniversary edition is soooooooo effing lame.

Doesn't seem to be any in stock at the moment, but I've ordered one anyway.

Exactly the same here.

I sold the HD-DVD version just last week to WeBuyBooks for something like £4. Kinda broke my heart to let it go and I left it (with the Harry Potter, buckle case box where the HD-DVDs were made to look like exercise books) right to the last minute, but I bought it in the days when HD-DVD was clearly the superior format and looked like it was going to win the wars because Blu-ray was clearly a beta product (as it still pretty much is today :-( ) Moving house it just seemed pointless hanging onto HD-DVDs for nice packaging, but I would very much like it on Blu since players will be around and in plentiful supply for some time to come and the British 2-disc release just seems kinda lame by comparison.

Yeah I get that on a lot of stuff.

So I tried a few sales on eBay. Didn't happen. Just wasted a load of time with people who didn't pay up, days wasted following up on the eBay complaints procedure yadayadayada.

At the end of the day there are only so many hours in which to de-clutter a ton of stuff and trying to get the best offer from all those people who keep telling me "Dude, that's worth £xxxxx" is just a huge time sink that doesn't warrant the time spent on it and never gets the cash all these experts tell me is out there for the asking. Had it on my "Lord of the Rings" pinball machine, my full-size dalek, and a bunch of my DVDs too.

Life's too short. I ain't got the time. I got something for it without any real hassle, and figured something was better than nothing from all the BSers

Sold my trusty US 5-disc set a while ago on Amazon. That paid for the Spanish briefcase!

I dont blame you for holding back to see what the new ones will have but I dont think for a second that there will be any difference in the transfers/audio. I havent seen a hint that there will be anyway so far.

Just had an email to say mine is due to be shipped this Thursday. Great news...I always meant to buy this and at this price seems like a no-brainer.

I've ordered one of these...and will sell my 5-disc regular set to put towards it. How much does the standard 5-disc set go for these days?

And it hath arrived, 48 hours later. Awesome. The 5 discs are in a regular width case and not the rubbish fat version that the US one came in, which is a geeky little bonus. Cost £39 but it's worth every penny.

Exactly what I thought!

Never thought I had a chance of getting the briefcase at a decent price so more than happy. I'll still probably end up getting that new gift set though .

I mentioned the 'Future Noir' book by Paul Sammon some time ago - the excellent book about the making of Blade Runner. Anyway, seems the secondhand price has gone through the roof....Im still not selling mine though!

Mine has come too...very nice indeed.

How much were these when they first came out?

Going to sell my BD and HD-DVD 5 disc sets on 'fleabay'. How much can I expect to sell them for?

Id sell them on amazon if I were you - I sold my BD 5-disc set there for about £35? a few weeks back (as soon as I received the briefcase!).

If you go the fleabay route (and I certainly wont ever again) make sure you send recorded delivery and expect the "oh I didnt receive the goods" crap...

You wouldn't as items from the EU are exempt from import fees.
