half price EVERYTHING at Blockbuster

this probably won't matter to many people, but giving a heads up anyway.

my local Blockbuster (Canterbury) is closing down, and EVERYTHING they have that they sell (non rent things) is half marked price.

just bought 15 blu rays for £36.

unknown - £3
donnie darko 2 - £2
saw 3d - £2.50
true grit - £3
fighter - £2.50
district 9 - £2.50
paranormal activity 3 - £5

all xbox/ps3/wii games are half price, dvd's, box sets, all food and sweets. literally some amazing bargains to be had.

if i don't like the blu rays i will just sell them for what i paid for them.

i am going back tomorrow to find out what else there is - if there is anything in particular anyone wants i can have a look for them?

I wouldn't mind Saw 3D please. I would be very grateful if you could please pick me one of those up (or I'd very happily buy yours should you not wish to keep it)?

My local Blockbusters do. Indeed, most of my 3D collection has been bought there as bizarrely tend to have the best prices.

My local Blockbusters sells zero 3D titles.
I would interested if they sell any half price 3D titles if they have any. If tailwhip2000 can post what they have

i am trying to think of other dvds and blu rays they had for sale.
i may just take a few pics and put them up on here tomorrow for people to have a look at.

they had a couple of the harry potter films (can't remeber which, but one of them was a "part 2" film), they had the twilight films.
an entourage boxset, al pachino box set, beethoven box set (lol) - all on dvd this time.
quite a lot of kids dvd's and chick flicks as well (dirty dancing dvd for £2.50).
love and other drugs
morning glory
inglorious bastards
hall pass
how do you know
the kids are alright

just had another look and afraid there are no more copies of it.
they said a lot of their rental films will become available to buy as of this week (the newest of the new will go back to other stores).
so will keep checking this week to see what is available

I tried a couple of branches: Slough and Maidenhead. Diddly squat in terms of £3 blu ray bargains. A mass of c grade Dvd's that are not worth more than a quid. To be fair Asda and other outlets sell very decent dvd's for £3 brand new.

They had a few blu rays for £6 or more. But again, these are ex rentals and brand new they dont cost much more. For example i bought:

Hanna - £6 at blockbuster in a fairly poor condition box - £8.05 brand new from Play.com

Bad Lieutenant - £5 ex rental at Blockbuster - £8 brand new at HMV.com

Tbh - having watched the latter, i should've just rented as it has zero re-watch value for me.

is this just one store closing or is this blockbuster disappearing from our high streets? (which doesn't surprise me with the competition)

as far as i know this is just the Canterbury one (they are knocking the building down and building a Holiday Inn there i think) - but they said they couldn't re-locate as the premises in the high streets cost too much to buy or rent, so they had no option but to get rid.

i can see a few more going the same way tbh.
