Excellent price and a vast improvement for those with the 2001 boxset (like myself). Unfortunately, the BD version is probably a waste of time for me as I still haven't watched number 2 or 3 on DVD and I paid £45 for mine.

If anyone has ordered from Play, it looks like they are still sending out batches with a faulty Godfather 2. So, check the disc gets to the end of the film.

So there isn't some kind of an exchange programme? I think I'll order it from Amazon. In my experience Play aren't too good at putting right, when things go wrong.

Is there any other way to check that the disc is faulty other than watching it all the way through?

I'm unlikely to get round to watching Godfather 2 immediately and don't want to find it's cream crackered in a couple of months time!

Play charge to send stuff back and from my own experience, they only charge up to a certain amount (even rang them up). Everything has gone back and cost more than what I got refunded. This is one reason why I don't use Play much anymore. Also, there is guarantee that Amazon won't have the same problem.

I would have thought the bad batches would have ended by now (unless they are getting sent out again). There is a review from the 12th on Play though with someone affected.

update.

I just found this from a Amazon email -

Quote:
Possible affected units can be identified by the catalogue reference BSP2032 appearing on the spine of the outer slipcase holding all four discs, coupled with the barcode reference 5 051368 203232 appearing on the underside of the outer slipcase.

One of the discs in this boxed set: "The Godfather Part 2" may not work properly on your Blu-ray player.

The symptoms of the possible fault are that when watching the main feature of "The Godfather Part 2", the disc freezes at around 1hr 40mins and skips content before resuming play some 15 minutes later.

mmm...my collection matches the barcode numbers you mentioned. I'll just have a check to see if my copy freezes.

I've checked my copy, and thankfully it loads properly and doesn't freeze. I ran it through chapter 13-14 and around the 1hr40 minute mark a few times, and had no freeze-ups. I am sorry for those of you who have a problem disc.

What player is it? Is it the PS3? I have heard may player the SOny S350 freezes at that point.

I also found this email address for someone at Technicolor who claims there is a free replacement programme - Rebecca.Sparrow@Technicolor.com.

It is probably me being paranoid, but is this problem why the set is cheap? I am still annoyed that the cheap Rocky DVD set from Play came with the non anamorphic Rocky 1 which is why it was £7.99 for all 6 films. It wasn't worth me sending it back to Play so I may just get Rocky 1 on BD instead.

Mine freezes at 1.41.32, just requested to return the item on their website as it states that they will refund the postage if it is their error. Can't imagine they would not do this as they would lose too many customers.

The paper receipt is unnecessary, as far as I know. There are always online records aren't there?

You have a period of 30 days to return any faulty item. If you ordered after the 1st of November you get until the 31st January as part of their extended Christmas returns policy.

I've got a Sony S360. As I said, I didn't play it right from the start. However, the menus load with no problem and I've played it through around the 1hr30 to 1hr50 mark with no problems.

Damn I ordered from Play as well, considering this a product fault why are they selling faulty goods?

Well I'll have to put in the GF2 & select at the time you've given to see if it freezes. 1hr 40 mins right?

Checked mine earlier and it freezes (PS3 Slim). Amazon did send me the email about getting a replacement disc from the gal at Technicolor, but I think I'm just going to send it back for a refund....especially as I paid £24.99 for it.

Re: The Godfather Trilogy - £17.99 @ play.com, £17.98 @ Amazon

I thought I would try emailing Technicolour as not keen on sending whole set back and getting same problem again.

Just got an email back saying:

Thank you for your email in relation to ‘The Godfather Trilogy [Blu-ray] [1972], ASIN: B001E25MBK, purchased via Amazon.

I am waiting for a FREEPOST address for you to return the ‘The Godfather Part 2" disc whereupon I will issue to you a replacement disc.

I expect to have this within the next 8 days so you should expect a further email then and replacement product within 10 days.

Please accept my apologies for this issue and thank you for your patience.

I bought from Play and mentioned this in my email to them but suspect it will be same deal as Amazon
