This is a stupid price for one of the best series ever made. If I didn't already have the previous 1-10 boxset I'd jump all over this. And even now I'm tempted by it still!

Re: Friends Complete Series 1-10 DVD Box Set 15th Anniversary Edition only £39.68

I'm very tempted, that's a ridiculous price and there's new extras as well. I bought these pretty much as they came out as it's my favourite show ever and the boxes changed for s7, 8, and 9 and then 10 which always bothered me. Plus they take up a load of space on the shelf.

*ends self justification*

I have ZERO justification for buying this with the black complete box set on the top of my DVD book case

it is just so tempting to buy. But the fact it is shown every day, available to watch any time on demand and I have the odd series is the reason stopping me. But most most probably will buy it in a couple of weeks when i get the to the christmas shopping.

I have all the old releases and still watch the epsiodes on E4. At just 20 minutes per episode, it is easy to go through a entire season pretty quickly.

Also, the new sets are uncut with longer episodes than before (might be only a joke or two). E4 have been using cut episodes for a long time with complete jokes cut out of them.

Re: Friends Complete Series 1-10 DVD Box Set 15th Anniversary Edition only £39.68

I was never a huge Friends fan, much preferring Seinfeld and Frasier. However at this price I just couldn't resist and so ordered a copy. It arrived a few days ago. The thing which surprised me most was the size of the thing. It's about half the size of other Friend's boxset I have seen.

Pricewise this must surely be the DVD bargain of 2009, at £4.00 per season.

Asda seem to be yo-yoing in price as today my local had them for £39.71, whereas two days ago they were £50

I sure I remember reading the last 3 seasons were either widescreen or much better picture quality, I'll try and find the thread.

Just checked Amazon, which is where I got mine, a few weeks back . Like everyone else though they have since increased the price to £50. As far as I can see NO ONE is still selling these at £40.

So I finally caved and got this. It was inevitable and I figured it dropping back to £40 was a sign......... A lame excuse of a sign, but a sign nonetheless.

I've got this and it's 4:3, but the same episode was aired on Channel 4 in widescreen and didn't seem to be missing the top and bottom. The DVDs are pretty bad quality aswell, I'm on season 7 atm. Still worth the money though (£40 I paid).

Really? I've never seen a widescreen episode of this show and i've got all 10 seasons. Sure it wasn't just stretched to fit?

Friends has never been widescreen on TV. DVD's are 4:3 on both R2/R4 and R1.

Expect the white box is a scaled down black set

I did own both box sets before selling the 10th anniversary black box on the forum

The main difference is that in the 15th anniversary white box each episode is a minute or two longer (i.e. full US length) and there are more extras; predominantly commentaries. There is also an episode guide book but meh For what it is worth I think the black box was a nicer design

The show was always in 4:3

The extended episodes are definitely worth it - the reason I was prompted to buy the region 1 DVDs in the first place was because I realised all the hilarious lines from a particular episode were cut out in the normal broadcast versions. Some episodes are up to 10 minutes longer, not just a "minute or two" as well, and in certain cases entire sub-plots have been added.
