Hot Toys Matrix Sentinel and some advice needed for a newbie please.

Hi guys, I recently got a unit from Ikea, just had a look on the internet and noticed there's a new sentinel coming out from one of my fave trilogies, would be a nice first purchase. Hoping to get a bit of advice where to buy from.

Prices seem cheaper from abroad but I never import anything really so I'm in two minds.

Re: Hot Toys Matrix Sentinel and some advice needed for a newbie please.

Nice price and a nice size aswell should just fit in your case without having to remove a glass shelve.

& with it only being $59.99 you wont have any customs taxes to pay.
But I dont like the figure looks a bit messy to me but what ever floats your boat

Are you sure about not paying taxes at that much?

I thought it starts at £18, which is roughly $30, you wont pay much tax but then I believe the post office puts an extra charge of about £5-8 on for handling.

Not too sure as nothing I have had has been taxed, so others will have more knowledge about it than me, but something to bear in mind.

Think so long as you take the shipping and customs into account, and that normally you get it quicker if its imported then you should be happy.

Re: Hot Toys Matrix Sentinel and some advice needed for a newbie please.

So is that website I posted best place to order from?

I might do it then at that price as it's £70 @ play and it doesn't come out until mid december.

Thanks for the help.

About the figure being messy, well that's one of the things I like about the old sentinel.

you'd be eligible for customs, £18 is the limit i think. anything over that and you're liable for a charge. doesn't mean you'd get one though. get it from a UK shop/dealer if you're worrried. or via ebay from an overseas seller and ask them to declare a low value on it under the limit.

Re: Hot Toys Matrix Sentinel and some advice needed for a newbie please.

With Sideshow, a lot of their things ship from the EU warehouse (UK), so there is not customs no matter how much it is

If you look at the product page there are 2 flags, one for US and one for EU. With this one you can see it says for the EU (and US) that it's pre-order and that it will ship from the EU warehouse.

There will be no custom charges with this

well there you go. cooey knows such things obviously. depending on postage could still be cheaper elsewhere. not sure how much they charge.

Re: Hot Toys Matrix Sentinel and some advice needed for a newbie please.

you could try ebay and pay via paypal if you can. i just saw one for £55ish inc shipping. it was from china i think. you could just ask them to declare a low value on the package so you wont get a customs charge.

I may do that, Forbidden Planet do it for £60 inc delivery before the 4% Quidco so it's around the same price if they take debit cards.

Re: Hot Toys Matrix Sentinel and some advice needed for a newbie please.

Forgot that Sideshow has an EU warehouse, nice one Cooey.

Is that FP.co.uk, cas? there have been a few issues with that site and some peoples credit cards, think they got hacked at the time, thing what put me off was not that they got hacked but the customer service people got afterwards, theres a thread somewhere hear about it.

Plus in my limited experience, I wasnt that impressed, took ages to get a preorder through, so much so that I canceled and got them it off of ebay instead, cost a bit more (was with the 10% off at xmas) but i got it in 2 weeks, had waited months for it from FP.co.uk. They were fine for an in stock item I got, but I personally wont use them again for a pre order, just my opinion of course.

Re: Hot Toys Matrix Sentinel and some advice needed for a newbie please.

Sideshow do accept debit cards (I never buy on CC for collectables -not going down that route!).

But bear in mind SSC add VAT for goods shipped out of their european warehouse, something to bear in mind as the prices look good - add the VAT and they soon dont look like value for money.

I guess as the Sentinel is only about £40 inc del you're only looking at another £7 max on top of that for VAT, and with no customs charges it should work out cheaper

I did see that on the first page and I can see where you got that figure from but I'll stick with my original post but just to elaborate on it, as I mentioned it was by my reckoning from experience as I've been regularly buying direct from sideshow for 4-5 years now and with a quick check of some of my invoice emails over the last year or so from them, including two last week , for me within the uk shipping has been $25.89 on them, then the total including shipping as Buff Daddy mentioned is subject to vat which is easily overlooked (15% up till the end of the year) bringing the total to $98.76 which is around £60

but the 'estimated' shipping for them at checkout and in the order confirmation email has been $28.78 though and at this stage of the order and using a direct quote

cas, I would admit though that even though I have pre-ordered a couple with them in then past, I have never bought any Hot Toys figures from them due to impatience (and being able to get a little cheaper) as they tend to come out in asia a month or four earlier.... have normally ended up ordering through a couple of HK ebay sellers I would use but that is not an option here but would easily recommend fp.com who to my surprise have billed me yesturday for a pre-order I wasn't expecting for another month (nothing for a few months now three billed in one week, gonna be broke next month now)

as you mentioned the matrix being one of you favourite trilogies, although hard to come by now, gentle giant released a trinity on a ducati statue and a neo statue along with a line of mini-busts that are worth looking out for

Cheers, there's a seller on Ebay from China and they have it for about £56 but they say on their listing they recommend paying £15 for another courriers service so going with the free service has made me scepticle after reading that but I guess it would be fine. They don't state a shipping/release date either.

Any idea what one would likely be shipped earlier, the one from ForbiddenPlanet or the China seller?

Re: Hot Toys Matrix Sentinel and some advice needed for a newbie please.

do you mean the £15 in the box in the listing? i think that's just if it wasn't free shipping it would be £15. i'd be happy enough going for the free postage.
try here then maybe, HOT TOYS MATRIX 1/16 SENTINEL 15" RELOADED REVOLUTIONS on eBay (end time 02-Sep-09 06:00:18 BST)

or here, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-16-HOT-TOYS-...d=p3286.c0.m14

Re: Hot Toys Matrix Sentinel and some advice needed for a newbie please.

its been a while but if I remember correctly ems is fully tracked and comes via parcelforce when it hits the uk....... registered type is just delivery comformation, the extra would be more for piece of mind and a little quicker but from experience (or it may be coincidence) express methods can be caught with customs charges a bit more often which could add another £20 or so on

don't know why but I've always had a prefernce for HK sellers like goodshipped (who i'm pretty sure i have have got something offin the past) in kj23's post and have used this one HOT TOYS MATRIX 1:16 SENTINEL COLLECTIBLE FIGURE 3ship on eBay (end time 16-Sep-09 10:22:42 BST) for 4 or 5 figures going back to my first hot toys purchases of superman returns and batman begins

just a warning though, paypal protection is only available for 45 days and as this is a pre-order the sentinel may not (most likely wont be knowing hot toys) be available untill after this time has elapsed.

fp would likely be a bit later in getting stock than the asia sellers and no chance of custom fees. another option who would likely be quicker to get stock than fp and is also in the uk is to give OneSixthBruce Contact Us an email to see if he is or can get any and at what price, hands down the best seller regarding communication and packaging I have dealt with and also a member on a number of forums

Re: Hot Toys Matrix Sentinel and some advice needed for a newbie please.

Thanks for all the help, so many options to choose from I'm going to give it a think over. Those Ebay links don't seem to be working for me at the moment so I'll check back another time.

Cas i can highly recommend Loontentoys on ebay. I have bought at least 10 hot toys from them and never had any problems. they always mark down for customs and packaging is always excellent.

Thanks for that, they have 100% feedback too so I'm going to watch the item and probably put in an order pretty soon .
