Cleaning statue's..

Hey guys, does anyone have anything they would recommend using to clean them? I hate using a duster as it often catches on very sharp edges and I don't want to damage my statue's! I was thinking of a very fine brush? Could anyone recommend one?

Regards.

Re: Cleaning statue's..

i would recommend either a microfibre cloth (like the ones they provide with HD tv's) they are alot thinner than a duster and will last a hell of alot longer, and for areas that are hard to reach then i would say cotton buds mate they dont pick much up straight away but persistance pays off

Re: Cleaning statue's..

Microfibre brush/cloth will do the trick. If you want to go that little bit further, a can of compressed air can be quite good too

that was the first thing that popped into my head too

The likes of a camera lens brush and tins of compressed air are handy for statues and dioramas..... but with cloth on the likes of PF's and 12" figures, your better off keeping them in cabinets to try to prevent dust getting near them, as far as reasonably possible of course.

There used to be a link on sideshows website that has a wee bit about keeping them clean but can't find it just now

Re: Cleaning statue's..

Bowen Designs recommendations for polystone statues:

Care for Statues and Mini-busts

Each Bowen Designs creation is formed of cold cast porcelain. This combination of resin and porcelain is a material that should be handled carefully.

This figurine should be lightly dusted on a regular basis. We recommend using a soft, unused watercolor brush. If the piece is kept dust free, additional cleaning is not necessary.

If cleaning is required, dampen a soft cloth and carefully wipe the figurine. Soap and cleansers will harm paint and should not be used on the resin. Allow the figurine to air dry in a safe place before returning to display.

I personally use a variety of very soft make up brushes ( which were surprisingly expensive!). I would recommend extreme caution with compressed air as it would be very easy to damage some fragile pieces.

Hobby craft would be a good bet.

I use a combination of microfibre duster for a wipe & then I use a Games Workshop Tank Brush for big areas & a Games Worksop Fine Detail one for getting in ickle nocks & crannies.
