Wondering if my signed picture is real.

So I bought a autographed picture online of Steven Spielberg with a COA the was certified by SRG Collectibles. Here is the link to the site and photo STEVEN SPIELBERG Autograph Signed 8x10 Photo COA .

After ordering this picture I started reading about how forgery and fake coa were a problem and started getting nervous that maybe I got ripped off. Does anyone know anything about these guys, or know a website I can get some information about this. I got 7 days to return it if I find out that it's bogus.

I know it's not a copy cause the signature on mine doesn't match exactly with the one pictured on the site. Still that doesn't guarantee authenticity.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Wondering if my signed picture is real.

UACC.ORG

they seem to be the dogs gonads when it comes to autographs. I found a registered seller on ebay with the same photo. Have a look, make a comparison:

STEVEN SPIELBERG Jaws Indiana Jones Signed 10x8 UACC RD - eBay (item 370144690234 end time Aug-12-09 08:43:33 PDT)

But you can never be certain with autographs, especially celebs as it depends on what the situation was when it was signed, ie; in a quick rush. too busy to stop. Thus resulting in just a scribble that resembles the name.

Re: Wondering if my signed picture is real.

Hi there,
Imho chances are its fake, sorry to say it.

Just had a quick look through what they were selling, alot of the stuff they looks quite iffy to me.. they have alot of stuff way underpriced all in fancy paint pens etc, compared a few of their other celebrity sigs to in person ones i have and they are all off.

If i were you i would try and get your money back.
I'm no expert but just thought id give you my two cents

That's what I was thinking. Thanks for the input. I actually sent them an e-mail two days ago saying I wanted to return the item and they haven't responded.

If the person didn't sign it in front of you then there's no gaurantee at all. My most prized pocession is an album signed by Gil Evans and George Adams. The leader and tenor sax player of the band, both sadly no longer with us.

Can't say I agree with you on that. If the seller is UACC registered then all autographs sold by said person/shop are guaranteed authentic (the seller will normally include a COA, which don't mean anything, but they will always have their UACC membership number on there which you can check up on. Obviously if you've obtained the signature by meeting the person face to face then yeah, it's guaranteed to be authentic.

Never knew about the whole COA thing. Good to know that its just a certificate for which you must follow up on.

Re: Wondering if my signed picture is real.

At the end of the day mate I could make a nice fancy COA saying "This signature is guaranteed authentic" making it look official. COA's (when it comes to signed pictures/posters) don't mean bugger all unless they have the UACC member number on it.

Re: Wondering if my signed picture is real.

What do people think of this...

Autographed CHRISTIAN BALE Dan Evans "3:10 TO YUMA" on eBay (end time 14-Aug-09 02:43:52 BST)

Looks completely diff to Bales genuine IP autograph but there a UACC RD?

Yeah, i thought it was fake the moment i saw it as its so diff to his auto. Sadly it just shows that any seller can be 'registered' this and that and still push fakes through there site.

Re: Wondering if my signed picture is real.

its about sussing the dealer out as well, send them a message ask where it was obtianed and check where the actor was on that night i.e if its a premiere etc if stories dont add up then just dont buy simple as. I contacted that guy and he sent me the proof of bale signing the photo and his look from the time is consistent so i bought it as it looks awesome im well pleased with it gonna frame it with my other pic and my dark knight poster

Re: Wondering if my signed picture is real.

Some good tips to follow there.
Seen a few Bale sigs i like, tempted to get a TDK one and also a Salvation one as there just so nice!!

Would look awsome with my Ledger sig i have.

Would love to see yours when it is all framed up samwise_09.

Come to think of it..there should be a dedicated thread where we could post pics of signed memorabillia etc.

Best place to look is the american sellers on ebay the decent ones will have photos of the time and place etc and will be more than forthcoming with info as well, look at there feedback as well and get to know the real thing long before you buy.If your buying two signatures make sure that they match up etc and i wouldnt pay too much attention to whether they are UACC registered as thats flawed. It will look awesome with a ledger signature get both of them in the same frame as well and it will be a right bobby dazzler

when its framed and up i will take some pics and get them up here as i enquired at the framers on friday and it will look so much better properly done

Re: Wondering if my signed picture is real.

Yeah have recently discovered that even if you select to view items world wide some still dont show..so now i search on eBay.com brings out a few more things.

Thanks for some helpful hints Sam, much appreciated.
Yeah would be excellent to see it framed Sam!

There are pics of my ledger display here Dark Knight autographed item? as all i had to do with it was put some new glass in it and replace the pics.

May decide to reframe it or might just be easier to have my Bale sig near it in a similar frame.

I'm not in anyway having a go at those posting here but unless it's signed in front of you there's no way you know for sure.

My main point is when you go to see someone live and you meet up with them so they sign something for you. It's a great moment to treasure. My wife bought me two posters which state they were signed by the great Galton & Simpson. They appear to be authentic but I don't really know and I didn't have the great pleasure of meeting them when they signed.

All the very best

Re: Wondering if my signed picture is real.

To the OP,

I've also ordered from there and then wondered about authenticity. In fact, I joined because I saw your post in a google search looking for information on the "company" authenticating it.

I bought a multi-signed Ghostbusters 8X10. It was around $100. Like you, the autographs on the photo slightly varied from what was on the sample on the site. Honestly, that could be a good thing, as it would mean it is not an autopen. The next guess would be is if it were a forgery.

On the 3 auto's I received, I have been able to very closely match them to samples available online and on a site I belong to via membership. Before buying autographs, I tend to check the photo up against known authentic signatures. You could usually search for PSA authenticated autographs to match your sample to.

Anyways, my answer is that I'm not sure. The autographs I've received look very close to every sample I've checked, and even other known authentic Murray/Ramis/Ackyroyd autos I own. But then again, I am no expert!

When I paid the $100 for my picture and received it, I was a little more confident than when I browsed the rest of their site and saw they were offering other in-demand autos for very low prices.

Would you mind posting a photo of the exact autograph you received? I wouldn't mind comparing it to some authentic examples.
