It was only (half) in jest.
I say half because there's a lot of people working on making two-strokes clean.
Direct injection etc.etc.
Two-strokes are still the 'perfect' engine because they only have two moving parts, they're cheap to build, cheap to maintain, light and put out a lot more power than a four-stroke for a given cc.
If the efficiency can be nailed, they have a future.

Alstare Suzuki are no longer in WSBK either, so I wonder if Suzuki will put some effort into the Crescent Suzuki team who have stepped up to WSBK from BSB with Leon Camier confirmed as one of their riders.

It's a shame to lose another manufacturer from MotoGP. It's almost a Honda Cup series.

I know.....just that it will take a lot of money and research to get them that far along.

A relative of mine worked on developing the racing Yamaha 2 strokes many years back when they were pouring money into them and I don't think the money is there for something that won't find it's way back into cars and bikes for the road.

Remember the Wartburg Knight.....!

I think it’s a real shame let’s just hope when Suzuki do come back that they drag along Kawasaki with them, otherwise it’s just going to turn into a mind the mobile chicane’s (CRTs) for Honda & Yamaha who don’t forget have also pulled out of WSBK next year. If the Crescent team get Hopper as suggested it could be a very strong team for next year.

There are rumours that the GP12 isn't ready yet, so might not be unveiled until the first test at Sepang in a few weeks. Alex Briggs only flew out to Bologna in the last couple of days and he flies out to help assemble the new bikes.

Dovizioso broke a collar bone last week:

Let's hope the GP 12 isn't the dog that the GP11 turned out to be.

We need more competition at the top,and unless Yamaha and Ducati pull something out of the bag,Honda will be left with an in-house championship battle(not that it won't be fun seeing which of the two takes the prize).

I suspect Stoner will get into Pedrosa's head early on and leave him behind most of the time,and it must be pretty galling for Pedrosa to see him walk into PRC(sorry I meant HRC),and tootle off with the silverware.

Rossi said the same thing at his Wrooom press conference.

There are 21 entries for 2012 and I believe nine of them are CRT bikes.

That will make it a bit like the BTCC used to be.....one championship for the works teams and one for the independents.

The CRT bikes are going to get trampled.

Dorna have left the rules open to change for the crt bikes so if after two races the whole works bike teams have lapped them they can allow more fuel or more engines so the crt teams can turn the wick up.

Lorenzo fastest today, Rossi 0.7 behind but really likes the new bike, Stoner didn't go out at all after hurting his back putting on his leathers.

Ever tried putting on a made to measure suit over a back protector?
It's a nightmare, you either ask a mate to help or you try yourself and look like you're having someone kind of upright fit.
He could well have pulled something, apart from a hot wife.

He could do with pulling some manners but boy he can ride a bike.

Rossi says he likes his new duc and although still a second behind (1.2) he's improving the bike where-as last year 'zis was no possibol'.

I really want vale to win the first race but realisticly he wont be challengeing for podiums until mid to late season
