He is but is going to miss some races...David Croft announced today http://twitter.com/Croftyf1 that Jacques Villeneuve will be doing the race on Sunday.

Wouldn't be surprised to hear Jackie Stewart over the season as well, he's done practice sessions before (sure I remember him doing Singapore last year).

Other times I guess Maurice Hamilton although of course his regular partner Ian Phillips has now officially left Force India so I doubt we'll be hearing him.

We should have a sweepstake on the member being closest to guess the right amount of points for the winning driver. Everyone have a guess on what they think the winning number of points will be and we'll see whos cloest.

can't wait for sunday, shame i'm gonna have to record it because the Rangers v Dundee Utd is on at exactly the same time. I reckon the BBC have done it deliberately just to annoy me.

For those who don't know/haven't seen it, the Bahrain circuit has been extended to 6.299km and now has 23 corners.
Here's a simulation video.

Really looking forward to the opening race. Three former World Champion's and the Current World Champion all in one Championship, should make for some great races.

Yep. The only thing I will miss is the lack of pit stops (have to wait and see if that works well) and Kimi Raikkonen. No one could pull of a overtaking manoeuvre out of nowhere like him.

They are still doing tyre changes and I for one am looking forward to seeing a 3 second change for the first time. Should be poetry in motion. Any mistakes would of course be exaggerated in effect

I am always reminded of the ep when Homer drives in for a pit stop

Yeah Tyre changes will be good although I will miss all the drama fuel changes can bring.

Attempting to overtake Webber at Brazil when his front wing came off, again IMO a gusty move that perhaps only Hamilton would have attempted.

There's others but my memory is hazy, IMO he is aggressive and one of the better overtakers in F1 the others being, Hamilton, Alonso, Button and the master Schumacher.

It's a Shame he won't be in the 2010 season.

Poor video feed on the BBC website (even in 'high' quality) - juddery framerate, and occasional bad movement ghosting.

Raikkonen isn't much good at overtaking IMHO - he took out Sutil at Monaco a couple of years ago, denying the team a points finish (their first, IIRC).

Bit harsh tbh. He just lost control of the car braking for the corner, no overtake was attempted. He isn't the best but is still better than most.

That was the massive advantage of the KERS boost on a straight, in my view. It was after a safety car, too, so it wasn't "out of nowhere". Out of nowhere is more like Hamilton coming from miles back at Monza in 2007 to pass Raikkonen.

Failing to overtake Webber isn't really pulling off an overtaking move from out of nowhere either.

Raikkonen was fast, and he did have one or two legendary races where he carved his way through the field from the back, but for the most part he was lazy and if he wasn't at the front he didn't put in the effort to get there.

I think F1's better off without someone who raced for two half seasons in three years. Like Stefano Domenicali said, six stellar races in two seasons is not enough.

I know I want to shoot the plonker who put right at the front of the Radio Times mag this week those wonderful words "BBC HD" next to the Bahrain Grand Prix

Anyway, really looking forward to this season. As long as McLaren don't bomb out it could be one of the best yet I reckon with the changes they've made.

Mclaren

Why Why Why..... are other team trying to thumb down Mclaren again I just dont know. Last season we had no trouble as Mclaren were not doing as well as they should. I honestly think other teams are worried this season as it appear Mclaren might have got things right but TIME too early to say.

I think a lot of it could be this paranoia about any team gaining a significant advantage over the others at the start of the season after what happened with the "Double Decker Diffuser" that was fitted to the Brawn car as well as others at the start of last season. Personally I'm more inclined to think it's a distate for the British, if they had there way the international community would have denied us our first gold medal in the winter olympics for donkey's years and made our girl slide down with a tin hat strapped to her head.

FP3 now underway, incidentally worth checking out the McLaren website to compliment the F1.com live timing they've got a live text service (Race 1.0b) showing commentary/radio/telemetry/GPS for Lewis and Jenson...

Bahrain GP / Vodafone McLaren Mercedes
