motorazr V8 predictive texting

How do you enable predictive texting on a Motorazr V8?

When you are about to write a text message, press the HASH button until the little "Ab" symbol at the top left of the screen is filled.

It will probably cycle through 123 then puncuation first. Mine does anyway.

I've done that. I get 'New Word?' at the top of the screen. Then the keys are locked and I cannot type anything.
