Hi;
My son is looking to buy the
Motorola RAZR Black V3 Vodafone Pre-pay Mobile Phone, I know very little of mobile phones, apart from making calls, but need to ask the following.

It says the Motorola is a Pre-pay, can my son open this unit up and use his vodaphone sim card pay as you go in this phone?

it can be unlocked, but not for free
some of the new ones also may need testpoint unlocking which is harder.
if you buy from the cpw then you should find it is sim free (no branding and never been locked) but ask them before you buy it

Ive just bought a SE W300i for wife from car phone warehouse and as stated above there phones are sim free and dont need unlocking. I asked them to try sim in it before i bought it just to be sure and works fine .

So you can try here for sim free phone.

If the phone your son is buying is a "pre-pay" phone on vodafone, that is a Pay as you go handset. Contract phones are traditionally called "post pay" If he has got a Vodafone Sim already he just puts that sim in and away he goes.

If he contacts Vodafone and registers the handset with them, he should get some free credit for staying "loyal" to them.
