I'll go with that one as well as

People parking within the radius of a corner.

Have a few:

People who think indicators are an optional fashion accessory.

People who don't know how to go round a roundabout but instead cut into your lane when your turning right so they are in effect going in a straight line.

Tailgaters, especially ones with Xenons or HID

People who NEVER dip their main beams grrrr!!!

And the 3 people who have overtaken me this year JUST because I was doing 30mph in a 30mph speed limit through villages.

People who pull out of a junction cutting you up then crawl along at half the speed limit. And I would also include the people who do 40mph EVERYWHERE.

People who drive there cars into the parking space next to you at some ridiculous angle then leave the car like that and let their darling children slam the doors into your car, that's almost my number one pet hate and worry when you have a new car.

That's about it.

Just seen the best/worst use of roundabouts yet!

Old geezer, approaching roundabout in right hand lane, indicating right, so far so good. As soon as he is on the roundabout, swerves left, and indicates left, before cutting back to the inside of the roundabout and going all the way round with his left indicator going. Finally exits last turning on roundabout. Thinking this is a one off..........he does it again on the next 2 roundabouts.

Nutter and dangerous!

Another one to add is Mr Chav in a 1.2 Corsa in the outside lane of the motorway who can barely manage to keep at 70 when you approach the incline. Alloys and a big exhaust don't make your car any faster!

Something that also gets on my nerves in inconsiderate parking when on a street. You often get idiots who leave stupid sized gaps and taking up space that other cars could use. On the other hand, there are people who park stupidly close and miles out from the kerb, like my neighbour!

And until someone reports him, he'll continue to be a danger.

Johnny foreigner's driving Range Rovers or BMW's while using mobile phones and with no seatbelt on, very common sight in my area..

Lane Discipline, then flash you when you overtake then pull into the slow lane..

Tailgaters when my son is in the car, really makes my blood boil..

Also it's a bit of a blanket statement,as there are easily as many bad young male drivers.

So, you comment stating "Young Drivers" isn't just as bad then? Let me guess, you're not a 'young driver' then?

Plenty of bad drivers across ALL age groups of BOTH sex's.

People who don't even do basic maintenance or safety checks on their cars. Anyone else notice the large number of cars on the road with only one working headlight? I'm seeing several every day at the moment, some of them hurtling past me on the motorway.

God knows how they can't realise; it dark by 4 pm these days and pretty gloomy the rest of the time.

Which is EXACTLY my point.

None are any better....the only group left out of the original statement was young males, and I'm not sure what you'd define as a young driver, but you aren't too far behind me!

Noticed this quite alot aswell ,all kinds of motors too.

Another really big bug bear of mine is slip roads ,especially dual carriage ways and motorways, why approach the road at a speed unsuitable for joining the traffic and those in the inside lane why not courteously move over and allow traffic to join ,the general lack of manners and awareness of other road users is shocking and becomes more apparent at xmas time.

OK...back on topic now that the age issue has been done!

My pet hates.....

1.people who won't indicate

2.people who think they can phone and drive at the same time.....I was nearly wiped out a couple of yrs back by an artic driver who believed who could drive his truck and use a mobile.

3.Full beam AND foglights.

Happy New Year to all!

I agree in principle, but if people got the former correct, then the latter situation would not arise nearly so often.
Many cars simply do not accelarate hard enough on the approach to joining a 70mph road, then blindly expect cars in the inside lane to give way to them, either by slowing down or changing lane, whether it is safe to do so or not.

It is very simple to filter into moving traffic, as long as you have matched your speed, and nobody needs to brake or change lanes.
Obviously heavy vehicles cannot be expected to do this all the time, but there is no excuse for cars.

The trouble is these days the inside lane on motorways is inhabited by either large slow moving vehicles or imbeciles driving betweeen these slow moving vehicles.
My x missus used to get trapped in between trucks lol.

I was reminded of this one by somebody mentioning it in another thread....and i am experiencing it fairly regularly at the moment.
Now that the bad weather is upon us(snow, fog etc), its important to adjust your driving style accordingly. Some people stupidly dont, and they will find out the hard way, but its not them im referring to - it is the people who are extremely over cautious!
Im sure we are all familiar with the scenario - you are stuck behind somebody dawdling along at 20mph or less....it is entirely safe to go faster, but due to the circumstances, you simply cannot safely overtake.
Frustration builds up, and you can end up taking a chance that you are not comfortable with, purely to get past them.
Once past, you carry on perfectly safely while they disappear in your rear view mirror, but unfortunately the situation repeats itself with whoever happens to be immediately behind them now.

I agree about people who drive too slowly in snow.
I'm afraid to say I lost the rag with one the other day.
A hill we would have both made it up, had he kept going.
For some strange reason, he stopped when someone came the other way.
As it became obvious he was going to stop, I was sitting behind him going "No NO NONONONONONOOO" and blasting my horn at him to keep bloody going!
But he stopped...
He got going again (FWD), I was stuck (RWD) and had to go all the way back down the hill to take another run at it.
When I saw him stopped at the local shop, I couldn't help but have a right go at his ludicrous and selfish driving.
As I said to him, if you're too scared don't go out in snow, don't do it!

Yep, the ditherer who isn't really up to dealing with any kind of driving problem and whose only method of dealing with the challenge is to go really, really, slowly.

Saw one of the most stupid things today. Came behind a car at a crossroads. The driver was stopped behind the give was and was using a cloth to clear the windscreen from the indside. Not too bad but something that should be done before setting off!

Next, the driver moves forward, actually in the middle of the crossroad and stops. Then starts looking in the back to pick something up, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CROSSROAD!

Gave a sharp blast of the horn and the idiot went on. Also randomly braking as he/she went along with no need at all.

The driver got lucky that it wasnt a busy time of day as that area can be hectic sometimes.

1 - People who never indicate
2 - People who don't know how to use a roundabout properly
3 - People who beep their horns for no reason other than to publicly display their idiocy

Maybe slighty OT...but how often have you seen someone trying to drive and read a map open on the wheel at the same time?

All too often.

Not too much actually. Sat Navs were around for a while before I started driving

I know what you mean though.

Another thing which gets on my nerves. People who sit in the outside lane going too slow, most likely because their Sat Nav is telling them to

1 - idiots that have absolutely no idea how to join a motorway. I drive an artic which is 60' long and weighs 26tonnes empty (has a crane on it) and i constantly get idiots tootling down slip roads at around 45mph or they pace me at the same speed and expect me to move over, why don't they just go a bit faster and merge in front cos i can't do more than 55mph. I never ever move for these idiots even if lane 2 is empty, maybe one day they'll learn how to join a faster moving road

2 - boy racers that cut you up after giving hand signals and then crap themselves when you catch them up at the next lights and you get out

3 - Taxis, the amount of these i see with either brake lights or headlights out is appalling, these people have a duty of care to make sure their vehicle is roadworthy before carrying children, pensioners etc, if they can't change a simple bulb then god knows what state the car is in underneath (i'd rather walk)

rant over - soap box put away till next time

oh and i hold lgv1, psv, motorcycle, moffet, hiab and signaller licences
