Motorpoint

Is this the place to buy a new car ?
I was in there today & i noticed that they had new 1.6tdci focus's for 4k less than list .... surely this cant be right ? I then had a wee walk about there place & noticed some mercedes about 10k less than list ?
I am sorely tempted to go back in tomorrow & buy the focus i want.
Is there a catch ?
The sales guys just let me wander about without them putting us under pressure which is a first as well.

I'd like your input please ?!>!>!?!?!

Thanks

If you read their ads (smallprint) they do say that cars may be imports and spec may differ from UK

So if you're going to buy from them check the spec

Ive heard mixed reviews about them. The price on the price tag wont be what you pay as they like to add admin charges, or they did when we looked at a car.

Splitting hairs, but technically speaking a lot of cars are imports.
It's like my Alpina being classed as an import, when all bloody BMWs are imports!
Check the warranty being given as well as spec.
3 year warranties are the norm in the UK, but not on the continent.
So my car (being, as I said, classed as an import) only has a two year warranty.
You can score with the spec though.
For example, my imported Alfa 156 had aircon and a sunroof, when UK spec was either/or.

About 6 years ago my colleague bought a new Honda S2000 from them. It was classed as an import and the Honda garage got all moody about it when he went there for servicing. Apart from that it was great and a big saving compared to the same car at the Honda garage....probably why they were moody about servicing it as he did test drive one of theirs before going to Motorpoint.

Everyone knows (as I am sure you do too) that garages have no reason to get uppity about imports these days.
I expected sniffy behaviour from the Alfa dealer with my imported 156 back in 2000.
I actually got excellent service, no problems at all.
Speaking to the service manager one day, I told him I'd expected trouble.
His attitude was that they bill Alfa UK for warranty work no matter where the car comes from, so no reason to treat me any differently.

Yeah, I think it was because he used them for a test drive before saving himself a load of money at Motorpoint.

That will have hacked off the sales guys right enough.
But having had a mate work in car sales for years, the sales and workshop boys don't really ever seem to give a crap what the other thinks anyway.

bizarrely I've had 2 sets of friends that have bought Focus Tdci's from Motorpoint in Glasgow and have had nothing but excellent things to say about the place.

No hassles from sales guys, make a list of the cars they liked and went to get the keys, had a good butchers round the cars. Test drives without any sales hassles/pitches and very reasonable prices.

Both were very very happy with the service recieved and both bought focus tdci's. one was a 57 plate and the other was 6 months old with 3k on the clock.

Just thought you would like to know
