Top Gear heads to the mighty Boro :)

Looks like Clarkson and the boys are heading up to the Boro to open a new motoring exhibition at MIMA and do some filming for the BBC.

I think I may even brave the chavs and head down there to check it out

LOL, funny coming from someone that lives in Darlo. I'd rather have a leg off than even visit the place if I'm honest :P

That's a bit of a local oddity as one would think that it's short for Middlesborough but it isn't as the place is actually called Middlesbrough.

Why isn't it pronounced Middlesbruff then

It is strange that it is spelt and pronounced Brough but nicknamed Boro. There is a Middleboro in Kentucky, USA. Guisborough (pronounced Gisboro) and Scarborough are all boros but not Middlesbrough.

I suppose it's like people who spell Teesside with one S.

Anyway, getting back on-topic, I may go to the exhibition next week as (I understand that) this weekend is ticket only, which have all been sold out.

Wow, yes - Boro - Middlesbrough.

Anyway, the exhibition was excellent. I really enjoyed it as did my mate who also has an interest in cars, the wife - not so much! Saw Clarkson and May, Clarkson having a very enjoyable time trying to ruin Mays day. No sign of the hamster though. I believe they were filming for a TG item which will be broadcast this series. Jay J, it's definitely worth popping in to have a look

It would have been nice to have been able to see the presenters. I have read that some people who went and were promised to see them, did not at all, I read they went to the Boro match on Sat afternoon. I wonder if Mr B. Colins was there in white Overalls? I've met some of the presenters from the very old series, I went to a lecture from Tiff Needell about 10 years ago, and have met VBH when she was racing a Ginetta in the winter series at Croft a few years ago.

Does anyone know when the filmed bits are going to be shown on tele? I wonder how it will be if they will ripping the pee out of Middlesbrough. You can almost see the opening sequence of smog and wasteland.

If anyone is still interested in the exebition, it's on untill the 29 Nov and open from 10am-5pm. As mentioned I think I may go next week.

Yep, they went to the game - came on the pitch in Newcastle tops The Stig wasn't there either. I don't know who was promised to see them - as far as I know it was always going to be random. There were signs up saying they were working so please 'act normal and don't jump around like a prat as you'll be forever immortalised on Dave as such' and that they couldn't sign autographs etc.
