When is my service due?

I bought my car new, and it has a 10000 mile or annual service interval.
I've had it serviced every 10000 miles, but now it's 3 years old, I've done 36000. As the last service was in about May at 30000 miles, when should I have it serviced next?
If it matters, my annual mileage has now fallen to about 4000 as I no longer use it for travelling to work. So by mileage, it would not be due until probably Autumn next year.

What car is it?

Probably best to look in the manual.

Re: When is my service due?

Your next service is May or 40K miles.

You should service it every 10K miles, unless a year goes by, then its a year after the last service and the count up to 10K miles starts again. Thats how i see it working anyway.

Please everyone who reads this please take it in!

Services should be carried out over time or mileage which ever comes first so if you only do 4K a year you can't wait 2 and bit years to get it serviced as the elements cause certain parts to degrade.

Liam
All depends on the cars service intervals of course, for example...

Z4, 15k/2 years
C2 VTS, 12.5k/2 years
Swift Sport, 9k/1 year

If you do alot of short journeys, contamination of the oil increases quicker over time..cause the oil isn't reaching it's full operating temp..

you tell this by smelling the oil,it normally smells of petrol & other contaminates produced by the combustion process..

Re: When is my service due?

Exactly as Liam said....
Every manufacturer quotes a mileage and also a time interval between services. To determine when your service is due, its simply a case of which interval is reached first - mileage or time.
This of course means that if you are a high mileage driver, then your car will need serviced far more frequently than average. This is particularly applicable with the longer than usual time intervals specified by some manufacturers.
