Looks nice.

I'm sure I read somewhere a few years back that gullwing doored cars were illegal in the UK, is that right?

I was watching TV the other night when Bernhard Langer and Franz Beckenbauer, two sporting heavyweights come cruising along in this Mercedes that I've never seen before, happened to be the SLS AMG!

What a car, I want one

Is it me or are you wrongly describing the doors? I thought suicide doors were the ones that opened the wrong way round, like the back of the RX8 and that Gullwing was like the one shown in the new Merc at the top of the page. Not sure what those "Lambo" style doors are called though unless they are actually "Lamborghini style".

Not intending to pick, I am interested to know their names.

Isn't it -

Scissor doors open up vertically. e.g. Lamborghini Murcielago

Gullwing doors open up horizontally e.g. SLS

It's a gorgeous looking Merc, I haven't seen one on the road yet. I think they have got the design just right with this one. For the price though I would expect it to be a bit faster but that's nit-picking really.

The SLS has explosive bolts built into the doors which fire should the car become inverted. So it's pretty safe really.

The good thing is you don't need a drivers licence for once of these. You need a pilots licence....

the photos are very nice, what cam? the problem i find, this black/red colour combination is tired... even though this is a dream car, id be gutted if u handed the keys over and it had 'that' interior... sleazy im not.... the centre console looks that dull, that cheap, it looks fake! should have gone carbon/gloss on plum/ivory but really, for a show car???....

now, unless the library photo i posted in post 1 is airbrushed... thats what mercedes should be pimping about the streets of soho instead.... and i wanna be in the drivers seat!

Meh, not sure, not sure. It looks nice and all. Just think it's maybe a bit too soft?
And I see they have followed Audi by using it's range topping supercar for it's TV adverts. I don't get why they are doing it, I mean it's bit of a limited market the 100k plus club?
Guess I'll test it out in GT 5 haha.

Yes I understand that, but seriously, when was the last time Ferrari ran TV adverts? And their cars are the same price!!
I don't think you really need to advertise the SLS and R8, kinda sell them selves? And as I said I think Mercedes only copied Audi.

Still think the SLS is a bit soft?

dunno... this is a pure AMG thoroughbred. mercedes has a heritage over 50 years on this baby, yet AMG have been given the permission to go it alone...and they have... its truly next level!!!

the sls amg also has nothing to do with audi, who themselves were expected to deliver with the r8 having successfully taken out Lamborghini... its as good as, if not...arguabally a better gallardo.... both cars, to me, are expected.

and how soft are we talking?!! just tell me what would be going through ur mind the second he hits the gas coming out the pits...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QogyCSuVQjE

and if that's still not enough... its just gets better....Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 | evo

nice...

Haha, I think I mean it's soft compared to a Ferrari 458 for example, it has a luxurious a comfortable cabin rather then a more stripped out racy one? It just seems too luxurious, not hard enough? Too much leather.
