Fifth Gear axed

Channel Five reports that they have dropped Fifth Gear.

VBH is looking for a job, and some people are proposing that she goes over to Top Gear.

I certainly hope not. Hideous woman.

Re: Fifth Gear axed

All my personal opinion of course, but about time. What a terrible show . I'll take VBH appearing on Top Gear if I have to, in order to ensure Tom Ford, Tim Shaw and Jonny Smith don't get anywhere near it. I sincerely doubt the TG team will make any changes until one of them retires from the show.

I dont like the show but have to say I do like Tom Ford and think he would be quite good on Top Gear (he already writes for the magazine).

Re: Fifth Gear axed

Hate fifth gear.
Stopped watching it when, in their desire to be 'funny' and 'different', they raced a Golf GTi and another car around a track in reverse...
I can't recall when I saw something less amusing.
I found the fat guy annoying.
I found the thin tramp-like guy intensely annoying.
Time isn't being kind to VBH either.

Clarkson thinks highly of VBH though.
He gave her a 'big up' at a press thing only last week.
Think it was the same thing where he attacked the BBC hierarchy.

Re: Fifth Gear axed

The only way I used to watch 5th gear was on fast-forward. It was a truly awful show which sometimes had some interesting reviews.

I am not surprised it got canned.

Re: Fifth Gear axed

They had a chance to be different to TG, that's the silly bit.
Where TG has become more of an entertainment show, loosely based around cars, Fifth Gear could have become the informative alternative.
But they decided to try and ape TG.
Unfortunately, they seem to be inherently unfunny people.
Hardly a good starting point.

Spot on mate. 5th gear did have a good shot at doing a proper car review show but decided to copy TG. A stupid idea. The only bits I never fast forwarded was the reviews on cars I was interesting in.

LMAO at the cast not being funny. How very true.

Totally agree - even if mainstream TV does seem to be mostly about copying successful formats (see all the reality shows, for example).

Actually, I think TG could do with a shake-up. I'm finding it a bit stale. There's only so many "whacky races" you can do, where JC just wins it at the last moment (although I did enjoy the train race, immensely).

JC went 2 and half seasons without a win

they have created a monster with TG and JC knows it, he actually asked ppl to email him feed back on it a couple of years ago in which direction they should go.

Toms all right but the problem you have is TG has 3 perfect presenters who are all diametrically opposite to each other, the MG owners like James, the girls like hamster, and the POWEEERRRRR brigade like JC.

Potatoe at least has some talent so he could take on Stig Duties (in a helmet and no talking)

The Failed F1 driver Tiff who has the personality of soggy beetroot should be banned from TV for ever. (His only claim to fame is the JC invented the stig to stop another racing driving become a TV personality)

but Butler Henderson ... the stuck up spoilt bratt daddys little girl horse faced munta needs mincing, that would stop her constantly giggling at her own jokes ....

one down

just need to get rid of the gadget show now

Leave the gadget show alone !!

C4 should exploit the gap - bring back 'Driven' in some form or another - no gimmicks, just honest reviews of cars that most of us can afford, and would never dream of power sliding down the high street
(Thet could even give Tom Ford a job on it - he used to do quite good reviews)

LMAO

I don't really mind VBH to be honest. I couldn't care less about the other presenters though. Except Tiff. Who really can drive.

Oh and the gadget show. I've lost completely interest in that. Could be 15 minute show and still be much better.

Same here.
Puerile test methods, like the ludicrous laptop test featuring Keith Chegwin and lots of foam/water last week.
Or infuriatingly basic tests, like them all being sent out to buy an LCD with a limited budget, with Dominic Littlewood just buying the biggest he could find with no hint of research.
That's not informative in any way, it's just re-enacting what thick people in Currys do every day.

Re: Fifth Gear axed

The Gadget Show used to be very good.

We occasionally saw Jason Bradbury on here. He's still a member, I think.

I haven't been able to watch the programme for the last 2 or 3 months as it's so dumbed-down.

Jason acts likes he's fourteen. A knob in plastic glasses. The oldest swinger in town.

Even Suzi seems to have had her brain removed. She used to be an excellent, bike-riding, athletic, sporty presenter. Now she thinks she's a teenage girl (mutton dressed as lamb? )

Dont get me going on Jason and his biblical ego, the other guy is inoffensive but just has zero personality ..

If they want a techy nerdy girl they should get someone like Felica Day

Felicia Day

BBCs click blows it out of the water

opps I appear to be suffering wander lust again

sorry mods

good riddance 5th gear!

some people have stated they want an old school top gear like review show but as TG showed consumers are too smart for this kind of thing now

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_KIqdS1SO0

this paradoy of an old school TG review shows how ridiculous they would be now

i love the foot on the bumper old school TG pose and "drive safely"

You're right about Click.

I'm trying to remember the name of the girl you see towards the end of that programme. Usually presents websites she's seen.

Absolutely fit and lovely with it.

I don't mind helping out where I can.

For some reason I have always found women that can drive fast cars or big vehicles sexy.

This will come across as sexist, I see it more as a matter of fact, but I've yet to come across a fast woman driver.
Come across many who think they're fast, they're not.
VBH might be half decent, I'd welcome a chance to try her....
That Penny Mallory used to make a big deal about being the UK's No.1 female rally driver, but there's hardly a massive amount of opposition.
There was only really the Simmonite sisters, at the time.

That Sabine needs taken down a peg or two, I tell you.
I was disgusted at her attitude when doing the Nurburgring in the Transit van.
"Ach, get out of zee vay", she shouted at some poor sod on a bike, minding his own business and maybe there for the first time.
Cocky cow.
