Watchdog and BMW Alloys

Did anyone watch Watchdog last night?

They were reporting on BMW alloys and how many users are experiencing cracks on the inside of their alloy wheels. Dealers were then saying it was the drivers fault and it wasn't covered by warranty.

Has anyone here experienced cracked BMW alloys?

I have had 2 since buying my car 4.5 years ago. One, I stupidly changed at a BMW dealer after getting the above response, the other I got repaired at an engineering shop for £30.00

Re: Watchdog and BMW Alloys

Audi had a similar problem with RS4 alloys a few years ago, the owners club finished up hauling Audi down to the DVLA/MIRA testing and proving their case. The Audi dealers finsihed up having to replace for free the RS4 owners alloys everytime they had a problem for FREE.

Hard work but worth it, I think BMW shoudl receive the same treatment.

Re: Watchdog and BMW Alloys

Yes, i watched that and found it very interesting.
After all the facts were presented - only happening on same size of rims fitted with run flat tyres, cracks appearing in same places, and only affecting rear wheels when it was quite rightly pointed out that if potholes were the cause, then front wheels would be much more likely to be affected....it is absolutely scandalous of BMW to insist it is drivers fault and not cover it by warranty.

Good on the guy who got an independant report done, then started legal action....BMW werent long in backing down, because they knew they would lose.
