New gaming build - motherboard?

Hi Guys

Being a Mac guy for over 20years and knowing next to nothing about PC's I need some advice for my 14 year old son's new PC build. He is really into gaming and has decided to build himself a rig. Could you advise on his choice of components and particularly his choice of motherboard. He has saved most of the money to fund this himself so I just want to make sure he is getting the best value.

Motherboard: Gigabyte XKT-1155 Z68AP-D3 Motherboard (Rev 1.0)
CPU: Intel i5 2500K
GPU: MSI geforce gtx 560TI
8GB Corsair vengeance ram
PSU: Corsair 600w
Case: Zalman Z9+
SSD: OCZ Vertex+ 60 GB
HD: 750GB WD

Many thanks

Paul

Depends how much he is paying for it, but Z68 boards start around £70 and there is plenty of choice. TBH judging by the parts he has chosen he seems to know what he is doing so I would not worry too much

Just wondering if his planning on overclocking the system?

There's no much difference however if his not I'd recommend getting the new Ivy Bridge i5-3570K. Its only slightly more expensive and the Z77 mobo are about the same price. For the extra £20 I'd say its worth it but I suppose that's up to you.
