Hi guys, my PC is now ultra quiet thanks to the mods I have made all I can hear now is the PSU fan spinning so without spending the earth (mrs Taz is gonna throttle me soon!) can anyone reccomend a silent PSU please.

Cheers

Yo Taz,

Not cheap I'm affraid but bloody quiet is the Zalman 400w PSU I bought just recently.

http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/product.p...dc5db5f9d31688

It really is the quietist PSU I have ever used...from even a foot away you can't really tell if it's on or not.

Cheers, Lee

The cheapest option is to mod an existing PSU i.e. 5 or 7v the fans.

I've a Q-tec (thanks again Vex ) 550w unit. I changed the supplied fans for 2 80mm quieter units (1500rpm @ 12v) & then modded it so they run @ 5v.

Inaudible (rest of the PC is 100% watercooled) & < £35

Often had it stress testing (testing stability of overclocks etc..) with Prime95 for > 48hrs with no problems whatsoever.

The Enermax range are very quiet too (ones with manual fan speed control).

I can recommend the Nexus NX3000, which I got for £60 on Tottenham Court Road. It was expensive but is incredibly quiet, much better than the Q-Technology and PowerMan PSUs I've used before.

I got it because it was recommended on www.silentpcreview.com, and I was too chicken to modify a PSU like Kramer describes. He knows what he's doing, but I didn't want to risk the chance of a nasty shock.

Cheers,
Ian.

I have an Enermax FMA Power ATX 350W and its by far the queitest PSU I've ever used. Until I installed my HDD and DVD I couldn't actually hear the PC it was so quiet.

I bought extra fans (Panaflows) to mod it just in case it was too loud, but they're not necessary.

Antec are very very good too, I bought a truepower and it is exceptionally quiet, also has less power fluctuations than most other power supplies.

The reviews are very interesting on the Hiper, so I ordered a 420 watt. They're cheaper still at E-Buyer; £40 inc VAT + free delivery on orders (1 only) until 30 04 03.
