Re: Need a motherboard!

hi
this is a little over your budget ...BUT the motherboard is the heart of any machine and tbh i wouldnt cut corners on this component .. there is another way to get wifi via a dongle its a cheaper option than this (same board only no wifi)

or £90

over budget but you'll struggle to get a board with 2 x pci-e x 16 lanes on it for less than that.

A good price too, what are your thoughts on a similar spec board for AMD processors?

You know that it's not SLI capable right? If you want an SLI motherboard as originally requested, then you'll need to look at those based on the 650 and 680 chipsets. However, I don't think they will be compatiable with penryn; you'll need an Intel P35 or X38 based motherboard for that which only supports crossfire.

As a side note, the 8800GT's run quite hot so if you're running two, make sure you have good ventilation / cooling. Oh, and nVidia's 9xxx series is supposed to be out early next year.
