Asus p5k-vm wrong cpu temp

I've just built a HTPC with this board and it's reporting the cpu temp incorrectly (only around 5c) does anybody know how to fix this?

I just updated the bios to the latest revision with no affect.
process: e6550

Cheers

Re: Asus p5k-vm wrong cpu temp

is this the temp as shown in the bios or are you using system temp utility ie: speedfan or similar?

Re: Asus p5k-vm wrong cpu temp

in the bios and software. googling say's that it's a bios problem the new core 2 duo's have a different temerature range (T junction) up from 85 degrees c on the old chips to 100 degrees c on the newer ones. This will give a 15 degree temp difference.

So a reading of 15 degrees is actually 30.

only problem with this is i contacted asus and they said to RMA the board that it was faulty i emailed them back with the googled evidence and am waiting for a reply. Also checked the Cpu support on their website and the e6550 is supported.

I will see what they say. If anybody else has seen anything like this let me know

Re: Asus p5k-vm wrong cpu temp

I am now using speed fan. You can put offsets in if i don't put offsets in the temp is the same as the asus tool. I will try the other program you mentioned. I really think it;s a wrong offset in the bios.

I have not had a reply from asus i will email them again.
