new mobo for e2180

Can anybody recommend a new motherboard for the e2180 with firewire if possible and keeping the price as low as possible i.e about £60 to £80.
Stable but overclockerable would be a nice advantage especially as i am going to try and overclock the 2180.
thanx in advance

I have heard that the asus p5kc with ddr2 and ddr3 has a flakey memory controller. Is that true or is it a myth. The other thing is would i even notice it.

Re: new mobo for e2180

I have had this board for a while and it is great very easy to overclock with, especially with that processor.

I use the middle memory slot, and is has been very stable, so it could be a myth...

If you do get it just stick what ever ram you get in to the middle slot (black) i beleive the manual tells you to put the ram into the first one (yellow- i think)

This ram would be a perfect combo with that board and processor.

Re: new mobo for e2180

looks like i'll go for the asus p5kc, just one other question does the board need any firmware updating for the e2180 or is it ok out of the box.

thanx again for everyone's help

fairly sure it's fine out of the box - should be no hassles there

Re: new mobo for e2180

Yep just update the BIOS as soon as it’s built,

What other components have you got/or are you going to get, I would upgrade the CPU cooler maybe something like an Arctic freezer 7? For under £15 seems good value.

And get a Good PSU.

Re: new mobo for e2180

I currently have a 350w enermax power supply. I was hoping that this would be ample for the time being until update the graphics card in a few months time.
can anybody tell me if this would be OK.
