Need a new motherboard

Haven't really been paying attention to motherboards for the last year+ so kinda out the loop but thinking of getting a 8800GT, a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 and probably some DDR2 8500 ram though might get lower if the motherboards are too pricey. So any motherboards people would recommend?

Re: Need a new motherboard

I've recently got the Asus P5K-E wi-fi and can thoroughly recommend it, i'm using it with a Q6600 and Geil ultra low latency RAM which i payed £40 for 2GB PC6400. Going to get the 8800GT when i can find one in stock.

It's so easy to use and i overclocked the Q6600 to 3Ghz with ease. Want to try and squeeze more out of it when i have time.

The Abit IP-35 boards are also great overclockers.

Re: Need a new motherboard

generally the 3 to recommend are

Gigabyte DS3 P35
Asus p5K
Abit P35

For around £70/80 they are the best you will get for the cash. All should support DDR2 and DDR3 and also most likely to support the next lot of 45nm cpu's (penryn).

Also decent ballistix PC-6400 ram will clock like a demon so don;t worry about getting PC-8500 ram etc etc

Re: Need a new motherboard

kewl, I'll take a look at the boards mentioned. Thanks guys. BTW have motherboards pretty much done away with dual lan? As hardly any seem to have them now where as my current one does. Not really vital but it was a nice option if I had a mate round and wanted to hook an extra 360 or pc up so we could lan play without needing to run a cable from the router.

Oh are there any good sites besides amazon/ebay that you can sell old computer components on? Hate just boxing them up and putting them under my bed
