Upgrade help required - CPU cooler

I've just found out my CPU is running at an average of about 55 degrees and the mainboard at about 42 degrees. My PC is a P4 3.2ghz CPU running on an ASUS PTGD1-LA motherboard.

Any suggestions as to how I can cool this down, I think the CPU fan needs replacing with something more effective and quieter.

Also can you still buy these processors and if so can you get anything faster that will go in this motherboard?

Thanks

at that speed I would have thought it is possibly a P5 ?
(important to order correct fan/heatsink)
either way make sure you clean the processor surface before applying thermal compound(like arctic silver)

Re: Upgrade help required - CPU cooler

I wouldnt be overly worried about the temps, but like the other poster says try removing and redoing your CPU Fan and check the fans and other bits in your case for dust etc.
