Intel E2180 or Athlon 64 X2 4800+

Looking to build a cheap gaming Pc for a friend and wanted to know the best CPU to get.
Mainly I am looking for stock power but maybe some mild overclocking later.

For the price range we are looking at (Under £70), the Intel E2180 and AMD Athlon 64 4800+ both look good buys.

It will be running with 2Gb 667 mhz Ram and an XFX 7600Gt XXX

What do you fine people recommend......?

Thanks in advance.

no contest mate. the 2180 is the better of the two. easily overclockable and runs faster stock compared to the AMD.

Another reason to bear in mind is that you can always upgrade to high end dual cores (or quads depending on chipset) on the 775 socket further down the line. Intel have a big edge at the moment, so I'd definitely lean that way.
