Difference between Ahtlon 64 Turion 64 x2 and Athlon 64 x2 cpu?

Im looking at buying a HP Pavilion laptop from the DV6500 series. The models im looking at either come with a Turion cpu or an Athlon cpu but are both dual core. I dont really know what the difference between them are and was wondering if someone could shed some light on this and possibly advise which one is better.

Many thanks

Turion is AMD's specific laptop cpu, like intels centrino. Might be differences between the turion/athlon in the way of cache size/registers. Any spec sheets on amds site you can check ?

Turion is lower power consumption and generally slower than the full Athlon 64 chips.

I presume the latter is a gaming laptop? Which one is "better" depending if you want performance, or battery life. Then you throw in Intel C2D into the mix also (and Centrino, if couple of gen laptops old)

honestly, if your looking for a laptop (specifically a highish end one) then you should look at the Intel chips IMO. Genereally they are better performers and use less power than the AMD chips. Although I don't think the performance difference is as much as it is on desktop chips.
