Graphic card & CPU load question

Quote:
My computer has a 820D CPU and a 7300LE card, would upgrading to a more powerful graphic card (say 2600pro) help to reduce the load on the CPU when playing DX9 games?

My understanding is that a more power graphic card would allow me to run games at better quality, but will not reduce load on the CPU
Got no response in the "Graphics Cards, TV Tuners, Webcams & Monitors" forum , so I thought I'll give this forum a try.

Hi dcsy

Sorry you had no luck in the other forum, sometimes it goes like that.. but members will help where they can, only computers are a kinda neche part of the forum Upgrading the graphics card should definitely help speeding things up and freeing up some cpu power.

Re: Graphic card & CPU load question

The CPU has little to do with graphics performance in games, so upgrading your graphics card is the way to go to get better gaming graphics but wont do anything to the CPU usage.

Re: Graphic card & CPU load question

Not sure on your overall system spec, but maybe you would see a good performance increase from the video card you mentioned and an extra stick of Ram.

My machine has 1Gb. I doubt increasing this further will have too much effect on games.

I think I'll go ahead and get a better graphic card anyway. The 7300LE that I have is probably a bit weak for play games.

Re: Graphic card & CPU load question

You need something more powerful in the graphics department.
