Asus motherboard Dolby Digital decoding

Hi, It seems that my Asus A7N266-VM motherboard can decode Dolby digital and output a 6 channel analogue stream. Has anyone tried this? Can you route it through to your soundcard? Does this mean I could decode Sky+ internally (using S/PDIF in on a video capture card or existing soundcard?)

Look forward to your responses.

Cheers,

Steve

all 5.1 or better cards can decode it, it's dolby digital encoding that is unique to the nvidia soundstorm (which your motherboard has).

Basically, that means it can upsample any source to full 5.1DD and transmit this over a digital co-ax/optical cable. I Have this feature with my nf7-s, and digital is all i use

I did get my nforce2 to upconvert a stereo to DD with the onboard sound.

Reading my manual, this would seem possible.
