MSI Live DIVA trouble getting the sub-woofer to work in Window 7 MCE and Media player

I've built a HTPC based on the MSI Live Diva motherboard with the 5.1 amp.

The Window 7 RC1 (32-bit) install went smoothly. I've been able to get my ANTEC fusion case display to work. All is OK for the most part. I've been able to get all the 5 speakers to work from the amp card. I had to install the D2audio driver that MSI said not to install in order to get the amp card to work.

I only have one annoying problem remaining. I can't get any output from my amplified sub-woofer (in applications) which is connected to the sub-woofer out RCA jack on the motherboard.

The funny thing is, when I perform the speaker configuration to 5.1 arragement in the Windows 7 control panel and perform the speaker test, I get the test kick to sub-woofer and when I configure the speakers in Windows 7 MCE I hear the test tone to the sub-woofer. So the output on the motherboard and the sub-woofer is functional.

Yet when I play music, movies, TV or anything in MCE or use Media player outside of MCE there is no sound from the sub-woofer

Does any one have any ideas? Thanks for the help in advance.

Go into the audio config panel and make sure you have it config. for 5.1 audio. Follow the set up process to say what speakers are full range and which ones are not.

Then while in the audio panel go into the properties tab in lower right corner. Select the enhancements tab and turn on Bass Management. This will route low freq. sub signals to subwoofer and mid/highs to mains, center and rear.

Also, if you are playing back 2 channel content (CDs, music, etc.) and want those to come out of all the speakers, turn on Speaker fill. This will mirror the 2ch audio to all the speakers.

I remember setting that full range option in the speaker configuration. I didn't think that would omit the sub-woofer. I had already set the speaker fill. I'll tweak around with the crossover frequency to get that to my liking.
