Don't you need component input for a TV box hook-up?

Sorry, I'm completely clueless when it comes to technology. what do you mean by a TV box hook up?

My friend explained to me once. I think it's like a little box, some sort of mediator, right? You connect a line from your monitor to the TV box then the cable from the box to your wall, for your cable line right?

What is HDMI anyway? I want it because it sounds hot! It's like the newest thing right? All I know is HD is high definition.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Blam! monitor broke so looking for new monitor/TV

If you have a cable box that has HDMI output, you can use the HDMI. From what I understand, HDMI is the best way to get HD video-wise. Optical is the best for sound. So all you need is a cable box with HDMI out. You also need to have Comcast, Verizon, or Direct TV, etc. for actual HDTV channels. So all you need to do is make sure that you have a cable box that upports HDMI output and that your cable service can feed you HD TV channels through the cable box. If you don't understand what I just said, post a reply and I will see if I can clarify it. If you aren't looking for actual TV channels, then you need to get a Blu-Ray player for Hi-Def movies.

BTW, HDMI is just another way to hook up your TV to HD video. Component cables can do the same, but they aren't as good HDMI. They still do have a great picture though. HDMI is just a little better.
