SGI GDM-20E21 CRT - Cannot set 100 Hz refresh rate on Windows 7

My first actual post on these boards (long time lurker though) so hello everyone from Italy.

I've been owning this Silicon Graphics monitor (which is in fact just a rebranded Sony Trinitron CRT, unless I'm mistaken) since last year and despite weighing 2 tons it's really a pretty good screen (I got it for like 30 Euros, too and it was in pristine conditions at the time).

Last month I got a new computer and hooked it up to the monitor through a DVI to VGA adapter; up until then it had been working at 1600x1200 100Hz on my old and obsolete machine (Windows XP, Pentium 4 something-or-other, Radeon X-800 GT, 1 Gb of RAM) without problems (I just had to center the picture through the monitor built-in settings thing), now it flat out refuses to go past (as in, showing any picture at all) 1600x1200 60Hz or 1280x1024 72 Hz.

My new computer has the following configuration: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, i5 2500k, GeForce GTX 560 Ti, 8 Gb of RAM.

Is there a way to unlock the monitor 100 Hz (or higher) mode on my new PC (I've been reading about it, looks like it's an issue with Windows 7 or something)?

Is my monitor even capable of displaying that kinda resolution (or any resolution for that matter) at 100 Hz or higher or was that just XP making stuff up (as in, it stated that it was working at 100 Hz but that wasn't the case)?

The specs: 20" (inches) 1900x1200 (max res.) 30-96 KHz. (Horizontal Scan Range Freq) 48-160 Hz. (Vertical Scan Range Freq) .

Thanks in advance for your precious help on this issue.

If it is just rebranded then you could try installing the equivalent Trinitron driver.

The nVidia control centre should have an option to set a custom resolution/refresh rate somewhere if that doesn't work.

Otherwise it's likely to be a cause of playing with powerstrip.

I don't know the name of the original model. I just know that it's basically a Sony Trinitron screen with SGi logo on it.

It didn't work (even the 0.001 Hz trick didn't work).

What's that?

EnTech Taiwan | Utilities | PowerStrip

Powerstrip allows all sorts of graphics settings tweaks including non-standard ones.
