Anyone tried EXOGEAR ExoMount - Universal car mount

It's actually sold under a different name at amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...SIN=B007RYI7R0

EXOGEAR ExoMount - Car Mount for iPhone, Smartphones

It looks pretty cool and seems to fit most mobiles.

Pretty decent review: http://www.gstylemag.com/2011/07/11/...gear-exomount/

I was wondering if it's as good as it looks and if anyone has one.

Cheers

I've just bought one of these for my iPhone 4S (to use with a case). I'll post an update with my thoughts once it's arrived.

I got it for £19.50 from Osomount- Space Mount Universal in Car Holder Strongest Suction Cup Black | eBay.

Thanks for the heads-up on this little chappie. I've been looking at dash cusions to mount a suction clamp onto for my car but this will be a far neater solution(I hate the looks of those weighted cusions!).

Sounds as though it should clamp nicely onto my A2 dash, going to order one and give it a whirl.

Thanks also for the review and amazon link, I'm not only sold by the review but saves me searching where to buy

[EDIT]Damn, was about to order and just thought to myself to look at my phone buttons first, sure enough the clamp would be pushing right on the phone lock button of my N9, don't think that would be good to be constantly held down. Might have to think again.

[EDIT2]Suppose I could use it vertically clamped two thirds of the way down the phone.

[EDIT3]Ordered

Received my Osomount from amazon and am pretty pleased with it. It isn't what I'd class as the most robust mount I've owned(would have liked the plastic to be a little thicker as you can kind of bend it a little in places), but it certainly holds on curved and textured surfaces. It's stuck to the dash of my A2 like poop to a blanket

Haven't actually used it on the road yet as only fitted it earlier, have no doubts it isn't going to come off but how much jugger there will be remains to be seen, with a heavy metal phone such as an E7(which I also own so will be testing) I think it will jugger a fair bit.

Anyway, here it is holding my N9, actually the lock button I mentioned above isn't really an issue with vertical of horizontal positions as the phone is held very well slightly off centre.

...and E7

[EDIT]Wow, first time I've made a comparison between the camera of my E7 and N9, the N9 pic is way superior! You can see what I mean about the curve and texture of the dash in the second photo, no other suction mount I've tried would stick to that surface.

Looks pretty sweet Tetlee, let us know how the thing holds up during real world use.

Given it some use now. As suspected it does allow a fair bit of phone judder, although to be fair my car is a pretty harsh ride(A2's are known for it). You feel confident it isn't going anywhere though and nothing too distracting.

I actually prefer the phone held in vertical position, less jugger this way, less still if you sit a corner of the phone down to dash level at which point even my heavy E7 was pretty still. Obvoiusly horizontal position increases phone movement a fair bit, although again perfectly useable and I can be a bit obsessive with these things compared with most poeple

For its strengths it's great, the fact it simply fits any device without any adjustment required is pretty handy, and of course being able to clamp it to sloped and textured surfaces is a Godsend. If I had a flat dashboard area though as in my old Toyota Auris for example, and only had use for a single device, I would definately prefer a more robust and device specific solution.

TBH mate I've since purchased a new stereo by Navsure which has built in sat nav(one of these chappies), so haven't really used the mount much since then. Still sat there though

I've been using my Exomount for about 18 months now. Still works just like new. Just new to wash the suction cup once awhile. Best mount I've ever owned and the only one that worked past 12 months. A bit pricey but worth every cent. I wrote a review of it but since I don't want to be accused of spamming, just Google for "Exomount squidoo" and it should be one of the first few links, the one that is hosted on the squidoo website.
