Which android smartphone, 4" screen max?

i find anything over 4" pretty uncomfortable to use and not so easy on the jean pocket currently got a blackberry 9900 which is about as good a size as a phone gets. but now looking for a move to android os and wonder if there are any phones out or about to be released that fit the bill?

must be running the latest android os or ics (inc confirmed future updates)

There are very few phones running ICS and even fewer that have this smaller screen size. The high end android handsets pretty much all have larger screens and these are the ones that receive the updates.

The only phone I can think of that fits your bill completely is the HTC One V (3.7") however I would personally take the HTC One S. Although it is slightly larger than you would like at 4.3" it is markedly better in all departments including aesthetics

Edit: Ah, there is also the Sony Xperia P which has a 4" screen and should be upgraded to ICS in Q2 2012

You could get a Nexus S which is the cheapest phone you'll find that is running ICS.

sorry when you typed 'nexus s' all i saw was 'nexus' and thought you meant the lastest nexus blimey forgot about that! i had that a year ago and sold it last april. didn't think that would get the ics upgrade. might have to look at the htc one s when it arrives and go that little bit bigger.

I think your 4 choices are...

Samsung Galaxy S2
HTC Sensation XE
HTC One S
Sony Xperia P

I would go for the One S, but you could get a good deal on the S2 / XE. The Sony Xperia is also nice looking but you'll have to wait a couple of months for ICS. I have Nexus S which runs official ICS but it's a tad on the laggy side, aim for dual core definitely.

The only one of these that is ≤ 4" is the Xperia P but I agree I would go for the One S despite it's extra size

vodafone released gthe huawei ascend g300 yesterday, £100 on payg, 4 inch screen and not bad inside. If you're on vodafone it fits the bill, if you're not it looks like its replaced the orange san francisco as the cheap modders choice so an unlock wont be too far off
