Can I sell my Orange upgrade?

First of all, massive apologies if this has been asked before - I tried searching but this forum is so huge it didn't help much.

I've just applied for an Orange upgrade, as my 18 month contract was nearly up.
They've sent an HTC Touch Diamond, but they also seem to have sent a new SIM card and they're asking me to ring up and 'register' the new SIM with this phone.

Thing is, I want to sell this upgrade on eBay and continue using my old phone.

Can I do that now or is there anything I have to do first?

I'm worried that if I sell it now, they might cut off my old SIM in a couple of weeks and ask me again to register the new one with the new phone - which of course, I won't have anymore because I'll have sold it.

Why on earth have they sent a new SIM out anyway? Is it compulsory that I register this, or can I just ignore it, sell the upgrade, and carry on as if nothing happened?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Does this mean I'll have to register it using the new phone first though?
That will involve opening the box, powering up the new phone and ringing up and registering - and I was hoping to be able to sell it 'new & sealed'.

If the buyer on ebay has problems and you have to register with the sim and phone you can still do that. Just note the imei before posting and then call orange if you have to register the sim with the phone. They wont check what phone you are calling from, the sim isn't actually in the phone box is it? If not then you should be fine, I can't see how they could screw you over for this one.

But i'm sure someone with more knowledge on orange will come along to confirm. I've only ever had a paug with orange and don't like them to much so owuldn't take out a contract.
